All Your Guns Are Now Belong Us

Reason: Defenseless On the Bayou: New Orleans gun confiscation is foolish and illegal

"In the nearly two weeks since Hurricane Katrina, the government of New Orleans has devolved from its traditional status as an elective kleptocracy into something far more dangerous: an anarcho-tyranny that refuses to protect the public from criminals while preventing people from protecting themselves. At the orders of New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, the New Orleans Police, the National Guard, the Oklahoma National Guard, and U.S. Marshals have begun breaking into homes at gunpoint, confiscating their lawfully-owned firearms, and evicting the residents. "No one is allowed to be armed. We're going to take all the guns," says P. Edwin Compass III, the superintendent of police."

As the essay goes on to acknowledge, some of these gun battles we'd been hearing about were between homeowners and roving bands of thugs, thugs who didn't try to prey upon the same area twice. Ladies and gentlemen I submit to you several facts, some of which have been gleaned from thousands of years of recorded history:

1. THE BAD GUYS DON'T FUCK WITH PEOPLE THAT FIGHT BACK.

2. TOTALITARIAN GOVERNMENTS KNOW THAT PRIVATE CITIZENS ARE USUALLY FAR BETTER AT MAINTAINING AND OPERATING THE WEAPON OF THE DAY THAN LAW ENFORCEMENT.And this scares the shit out of them knowing that their boys and girls will be so much crow fodder if and when the shit hits the fan.

3. The fear that dictatorships have for weapons is legion. That's why at one time countries not only allowed, but supported the rights of the people to keep and bear arms. If it gets too bad, do as men have done for all of time. Fight back and we'll get help to you as soon as we can, but FIGHT THE FUCK BACK.

4. Whenever a catastrophe befalls us, in any sort of clime or place, the modern media will rush in and MISS 99% OF THE STORY AS THEY SEARCH FOR CORPSES. One example among the many: Why didn't the general public know that the town of Algiers had formed their own militia and sent the bad guys packing?

And we leave you with this gem. Said it before, but how come THIS guy is allowed to have a gun? What, he flashed his Famous Actors Guild Card at the border?
