Roberts Confirmation Hearing

Nothing resembling a grand slam from either side, and although the Dems have thrown some good starting pitching at Roberts, the maddog reliever is waiting in the wings. There've been no curve balls, just high hard ones, the occasional brush back, and so far the batter hasn't let it change his stance.

Senator Kennedy: "Hurricane Katrina", and Judge Roberts, your views on civil rights have been "narrow, cramped, and even mean-spirited", "Hurricane Katrina", "you've repeatedly tried to narrow the scope of civil rights." "Hurricane Katrina". Bloviating, posturing to the choir, incomprehensible meanderings intended to use the air time as a public forum without substance. Obviously hung over."Hurricane Katrina".

Senator Biden takes up Roberts' umpire metaphor by telling him he "hit a home run yesterday," but continued by opining that justices can "change the strike zone." He starts with the privacy issue, the imaginary democratic right that includes whatever they think it SHOULD include. Violence against women, gender discrimination, prisoner discrimination, one-eyed, three legged Dalmatian on the back of a firetruck discrimination. As with Kennedy, Biden makes long, convoluted statements without a single question, interrupts whenever Roberts attempts to answer, and is admonished by the Chairman, Senator Rogaine. Make no mistake here, what they want to do is throw Roberts off his game so he Borks himself, ends all attempts at being diplomatic, and responds in the worst way possible by telling the truth. This is the Senate, being covered by the modern media.

Will pick it back up after the lunch, or in the case of Ted Kennedy, blow job and a beer break.
