I'm learning how to drive a bus. Have mentioned it a time or two. Last Friday was the written CDL (Commercial Drivers License) test in 3 parts. General Knowledge, Passenger-Specific Application, and Air Brakes. 100 questions. Pass it and you can drive a 40' bus, as long as a licensed driver is onboard.
That went off without a hitch and tomorrow I might start some behind the wheel stuff, if the guy teaching me has the time. Real nice guy so I don't push things. Normally, such instruction can run you 3 grand in some fancy schmancy driving school, and I'm getting it gratis.
I won't jinx myself by saying anything else right now. Who knows. Maybe I just can't do this shit and will suck at it bigtime. I'll talk more about it as time goes by, but it's pretty cool.

Good luck.
Thanks Lem. The local VA Hospital is hurting for drivers and I've got more time on my hands than common sense.
I didn't think that you were going to be driving the kids to school, although I would pay money to see it.
There are laws against that. Be some squared-away little suckers though.
Seriously, though; these poor guys sitting around, LITERALLY...in wheelchairs with no legs, or crippled somehow, and waiting and waiting for a lift. Found myself wanting to take other routes instead of seeing them all the time, but took the dumbass way out.
I know what you mean. I used to take my grandad to the VA hospital in Asheville. He was service connected disabled due to being gassed in WWI. The volunteers were the best people on earth.
