Former President Jimmy Carter has sent North Korea a message of condolence over the death of Kim Jong-il and wished "every success" to the man expected to take over as dictator, according to the communist country's state-run news agency.

NYC Man Faces Charges For Carrying "Switchblade"

LaJuanzo Turner, 37, got arrested in a Brooklyn subway station in March while heading to his job at Zoom Media in Manhattan when two cops spotted the butt end of his Smith & Wesson knife protruding from his front pants pocket, his lawyer says.

The cops claimed the knife was an illegal switchblade.

His arrest is the latest conflict involving New York’s murky knife laws, which pit prosecutors and their zero tolerance for dangerous weapons against citizens who say certain knives are tools they need to do their jobs.

“This is ludicrous — you have to use common sense and discretion,” said Turner’s lawyer Mark Bederow, who filed a motion last week seeking to have the charges thrown out.

Time and again I've told anyone with enough brains to listen that NY cops will call a butterknife a switchblade and get away with it.

Why? Because they can. A folding knife doesn't even have to be of the assisted-opening variety; all a cop has to do is flick it hard enough and if the blade moves a millimeter outside of the frame they scream "SWITCHBLADE!" and off to jail you go. And, by the by, they practice their flicking skills until they can make a fixed blade pop in and out.

The public apparently would prefer developing more of our own gas, oil, shale, tar sands and coal as an alternative to going broke by either importing more fuels from abroad or subsidizing more inefficient windmills and solar panels at home.

We simply don't know positively whether recent human activity has caused the planet to warm up to dangerous levels. But we do know that those who insist it does are sometimes disingenuous, often profit-minded, and nearly always impractical."

First off, thanks to the folks inquiring as to the availability of certain Curio firearms, or at least those the ATF considers to be so, but I cannot order a "regular" AR lower, or complete AR-15, or neutered M16, no matter when they were designed or manufactured. EXCEPT for the Colt AR-15 Vietnam Tribute Special Edition, registry numbers VT001 to VT1500. Believe me, if I could I would and only charge for the shipping.

I can order a Ruger Blackhawk 44 w/6 and a half inch barrel as long as the serial numbers are 1 to 29860. Or certain Winchester, Remington, or Mossberg rifles and shotguns and others as long as they're serial numbered according to the ATF protocol, which can be as long as the phone numbers in Ted Kennedy's little black book. I can also order a Dragunov model SVD in 7.62X54R, or a Simonov in 7.62X39, or a Remington pump action manufactured between 1931 to 1950.

What I'm trying to say is don't stop asking, but remember that this cannot be a business for me whereupon I derive most if not all of my monetary resources, and I've included the above information for historical purposes only. I can sell off my own firearms but only 3 of them every 5 days. Or whenever a fifth blue moon occurs during the 2nd leap year when a Republican is President; I forget which, or maybe its both.

I do intend to upgrade my C&R to a full-fledged dealer license in the not too distant future...the ATF was kind enough to send me the application and it isn't any more difficult than obtaining a Florida Concealed Carry Permit... so stay tuned.

Massatooshits Cops "Targeting" Unlocked Vehicles

Police officers invoked the ire of drivers in Beverly, Mass. after they issued warnings and locked the doors of cars that had been left unlocked, even if the keys were still inside.

The police officer's actions, while perhaps a bit invasive, did have drivers' best interests at heart, as stealing components from unlocked vehicles has been a rising trend for car thieves over the past couple of years.

"It's a little creepy, but I think that it has best intentions," a Beverly resident told WBZ-TV.

According to the local news outlet, the police issued about 100 warnings -- equating to roughly 1 in every 5 cars that offers tested -- that alerted car owners' of their mistake and offered some safety tips for avoiding vehicular theft in the future.

While some motorists were understanding of the officers' intentions, others were quite put off -- especially those that had their keys locked inside their cars.

"A few were upset by the fact that we went into their vehicles, and we understand it," said Beverly Police Chief Mark Ray."

I'd actually forgotten some of the ...joys of Marine boot camp. One of which was the slinging, swinging and spinning around 11.5 pounds of the last true battle rifle our armed forces had, the M14. We slept with it, showered with it, ate with it, and kept it cleaner...far cleaner...than our own bodies.

Think your hands are strong? Your shoulders tight and powerful? Ha. Even the biggest recruit spent many a day weeping (inside) over the demands of learning to control then master the manual of arms. As accurate as any mass produced battle rifle ever made, but enough about my favorite military arm.

Wrestling 8.5 pounds of commie delight...the Mosin Nagant should have been a whole lot easier but I didn't think about yanking and pulling dried out leather and webbing and trying to flex the metal-wood tolerance back to "normal". What a dumbass. Not that it hasn't been fun, truth be told its been a blast and I haven't even shot the bloody thing. Still too dirty. Cosmo galore (wasn't that the name of a Bond-Girl?) lurking here, there, and everywhere.

But learning an entirely new manual of arms is invigorating and when I do get to show her off at the range I won't look like some has-been, or worse yet a never-was, playing fumble stumble and regroup.

"This evening Rupert and I saw a movie called The Ides of March, directed by George Clooney. Ostensibly it’s about a young staffer on a presidential campaign who is corrupted by the process. In reality, it’s about George Clooney’s fantasy of running for president. In this scenario he is that rarest of creatures: an electable liberal. Cue scenes of him explaining to unibrow Christians why it’s okay to be gay, or why solar polar is a sustainable alternative to the War on Terror. In the real world, Clooney’s candidate would be ranked somewhere beneath Dennis Kucinich, but in movieland he’s the frontrunner for his party’s nomination and a shoe-in for the presidency. His only flaw? Why, the only flaw that Hollywood would understand – sex. His nineteen-year-old squeeze gets pregnant. Whether one is prochoice or prolife, ~~the~~ this subplot is truly execrable. Not only does no one at any point suggest she might keep the child, but the movie’s handling of the physical and emotional realities of her condition would shock even Planned Parenthood. Put it this way: Clooney’s mistress is possibly the first woman in history who dresses for an abortion.

The movie’s lack of moral focus is beside the point. It is an exercise in Hollywood idealism that is now hopelessly detached from reality and no longer heartwarming. It’s time for Mr. Smith to either wise up or quit Washington – his kind of schmaltzy Jimmy Stewart pap won’t cut it anymore. Obama, rumor has it, has disappointed movieland liberals and his donations are down. If that is so then he has my sympathy. At a time when millions are unemployed and the Western world hurtles towards economic oblivion, only Hollywood could continue to express outrage that the Japanese go whaling once in a while, or that Bill and Ben can’t get married in the mosque of their choice..."

Mosin Arrives Nearly Unscathed...

Manufactured in 1942 at the Izhevsk armory in Russia, replete with hammer and sickle stamped upon the barrel shroud. The only thing I fault UPS and/or J&G Sales for is a hole the bolt handle pierced through two boxes...and one good reason why folks revamp to a bent-bolt configuration. Still and all, it isn't as if J&G recently a-birthed and had yet to discover the peculiarities of straight bolt design. Not that anything seems amiss...but punctured packaging isn't cool.

Even bathed in cosmoline, the bolt cycles quite easily, and the rifle arrived with a sling, bayonet, ammo pouch, crown cap, rod connector, punch, jag, bolt tool and what is pictured above.

Am awaiting at least 4 types of ammo...147...170...180...and 203 grainers in both softpoint and fmj design. Will report back after some range time.

A while back I received my Curio & Relic Federal Firearms License, and durned if I didn't go and order me a Mosin Nagant from J&G Sales. The value of a C&R FFL is to eliminate the middle man, the gun shop that'll oft times charge an arm and a leg for the honor of ordering a firearm for you, because, after all, mere un-vetted civilians can't be trusted to do so on their own. And besides, it's cool to see an ad online or a flier and buy a rifle just like that. Here's a description of the 7.62X54R Russian battle rifle that preceded the SKS and AK47:

With the tens of millions of both varieties around I doubt a hex would fetch much more from my estate after I've shuffled off to the big target range in the sky, and besides, I'm no museum curator just a guy who likes to shoot genuine battle rifles, not peashooters, so more-sturdy is more better.

Back when I lived in Iowa, Crazy Jay and I crono'd the Commie Russian 7.62X54R versus our very own Patriotic American 30-06, and the difference between the two wasn't enough to mention. So I'm hoping it'll be just the ticket for Hog hunting once I get her sighted in.

About 1 out of 5 California students from the Class of 2010 dropped out of high school before graduation day, according to new state figures, with about one 1 in 6 dropping out in Santa Clara County.

But there was also some positive news in a report that usually dwells on the bad: Santa Clara County's push to get more students ready for college seems to be working.

Half of the county's graduates in 2010 had completed the courses required to enter UC or CSU schools -- compared with 34 percent of their fellow graduates across the state. The numbers are on the rise in the South Bay, even for groups who traditionally score lower, such as Latinos.

What this particular article doesn't break down is the ethnicity of the dropouts. Strangely enough, both blacks and hispanics account for the lions share of the numbers; roughly 60% of both groups graduate compared to an average of 85% for whites and asians.

Take away both, then California, and indeed the entire country, would be graduating more high school'ers than any nation in the world.

LONDON – The mother of Mark Duggan, whose death was the catalyst for a wave of violence in London and across the U.K., insisted Tuesday that her son was "no gangster," and police were wrong to shoot him.

Duggan, a father of four, was shot dead by police Thursday evening during a pre-planned anti-firearms operation.

An inquest into his death opened Tuesday, and was adjourned until Dec. 12, Sky News reported.

The post-mortem showed Duggan died from one gunshot wound to the chest. The Independent Police Complaints Commission described the investigation as "complex," adding that the investigation would take four to six months.

Duggan was described by police sources as an important player in the criminal underworld, but this view was strongly rejected by friends and family, who have condemned the subsequent violence.

Violence flared Saturday in Tottenham, north London, after a peaceful march by Duggan's family, triggering a wave of lawlessness across the capital and in other cities.

"He would rather sit at home and play the PlayStation with his kids. He didn't carry no gun," Pamela Duggan told The Times of London at her home in Tottenham. "Mark was very into himself, very quiet. But he was definitely a family man."

Pamela Duggan said race may have been a factor in the death. "They [the police] killed my son. I'm not saying murder ... I don't know what it is. Apparently it was wrote [sic] somewhere that he was being watched ... He's black and you know what that means," she said."

The Iowa Natural Resources Commission gave final approval to the establishment of a dove season to begin on September 1. However, the Commission felt it necessary to add an amendment that will now ban the use of traditional ammunition when dove hunting.

The Commission has taken a page straight out of the anti-hunting extremist groups’ playbook to deter hunting through traditional ammunition bans. Anti-conservation fanatics failed at the federal level after the EPA rejected their lead-ban petition and have now placed their focus on Iowa knowing that doves are the most popular and abundant game bird hunted in America. This traditional ammunition ban is designed to price hunters out of the market and keep them from taking part in traversing Iowa’s fields and forests after the historic dove hunting legislation passed this year.

The Commission does not cite any scientific studies showing negative effects of traditional ammunition and has simply jumped in the political bed with anti-hunting extremists. Just look at what Iowa’s DNR Director, Roger Lande, had to say about the ban in the Commission’s press release: “There will be a number of hunters who will be opposed to this decision, but at the end of the day, this action by the commission will help protect Iowa’s environment and wildlife from the adverse affects of lead.” Dove populations are doing better than ever all while the vast majority of states allow traditional ammunition for dove hunting.

Iowa is Fudd Central personified. While giving lip service to 2nd Amendment issues, the average Iowan will gladly submit to bend-over-and cough should their masters snap on a rubber glove. My 5 years of living there sickened me with regards to gun rights as perceived by slave-state Iowans and that's that. I moved in part due to the impossibility of convincing the citizenry to learn where their hind legs were.

So the memory "upgrade" seems to have been ironed out. Weird thing...after installing the new chip or whatever the heck they call the thing, my bookmarks didn't work and we had to enter Blogger through a rather backdoor route. I think it's because we removed the battery first but what do I know.

I couldn't resist a deal Tiger Direct had on a refurbished Acer; decent enough processor with 4 GB of RAM that I'm using as an interface between HBO-GO and the TV. One VGA port to the other and anything on the net can be watched on the boobtube. But the thing came with 2 GB in each memory slot, rather than 4 GB in one with the other empty, so instead of the 8 RAM I wanted its 6, and now I need another 4GB thingamajig yet it sure seems wasteful to stow the original memory in a drawer someplace. As the Frogs opine, say-la-vee. If anyone could use them lemme know and I'll get it off to ya.

Obama Administration Approves Illegal Multiple Sales Reporting Requirement

On Monday, the Justice Department announced that it will proceed with a controversial reporting procedure that will require federally licensed firearms retailers in states bordering Mexico to report multiple sales of semi-automatic rifles.

Last fall, the reporting procedure was proposed as an 'emergency" measure by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The procedure specifically calls for all of the firearm retailers in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas to report multiple sales, or other dispositions, of two or more .22 caliber or larger semi-automatic rifles that are capable of accepting a detachable magazine and that are purchased by the same individual within five consecutive business days. For example, a dealer would have to tell the government every time a deer hunter in Sacramento or Amarillo finds a good deal on a pair of semi-auto .30-06s like the popular Remington 7400.

A buck twenty doesn't seem like a lot, but to Wal-Mart, and Target and BestBuy et al, it adds up. Multiply the 3% times all the business the box giants add to their pricetags, and viola! $30 billion smackeroos.

Each and every store is forever on a frantic pace to lower their shrinkage because that adds to the company's bottom line, but NEVER affects what the consumer shells out. Or, I should say, it never results in lower prices to the consumer.

Not to say the retailers don't have the right to make money off their wares, of course they do; but stupid articles such as this one written by stupid writers who went to stupid journalism classes at stupid schools just tic me off. If you were the victim of a crime in Orlando, Fla., between July and December 2008, you should be enraged that the police couldn't prevent or investigate your crime because they were too busy looking for a missing child whose mother already knew the kid was dead.

(Folks from Orlando tell me that the cops were given numerous serious tips on where Caylee was but decided to spend many, many overtime hours looking elsewhere. You figure it out. Fits)

It's a zero-sum game with police resources. Cops combing through the woods searching for a missing child are not going to be patrolling your street or arresting suspects.

From repeat domestic violence calls to Los Angeles car chases, hit-and-run drivers and the balloon-boy hoax, worthless louts consume vastly more law enforcement resources than the rest of us. Cops in any town will tell you all the domestic violence calls come from the exact same homes, over and over again.

As long as we're looking for new revenue streams, how about billing these white trash low-lifes for their massive consumption of police resources? The dregs of society need to be assessed a fee for their abuse of government services and thrown in debtors prison in the unlikely event that they can't pay.

As I described in my last book, "Guilty," the leading cause of all social pathologies is single motherhood. One way or another, Casey Anthony's refusal to give up Caylee for adoption was going to cost society -- and cost Caylee.

The statistics are so jaw-dropping that not giving up an illegitimate child for adoption ought to be considered child abuse.

Various studies have shown that children raised by a single mother comprise about 70 percent of juvenile murderers, delinquents, teenaged mothers, drug abusers, dropouts, suicides and runaways. Imagine an America with 70 percent fewer of these social disorders and you will see what liberals' destruction of marriage has wrought.

A 1990 study by the (liberal) Progressive Policy Institute showed that, after controlling for single motherhood, the difference in black and white crime rates disappeared.

Meanwhile, adopted kids, on average, turn out better than even biological kids raised in two-parent families.

Of course, there aren't a lot of studies of adopted children because they aren't constantly mugging us. They're too busy running Oracle (Larry Ellison), the District of Columbia (Anthony Williams), or fantastic political websites, like "Big Government" (Andrew Breitbart).

One four-year study by the Search Institute in Minnesota found that adopted teenagers had greater empathy, higher self-esteem and more close friends than non-adopted teenagers in public schools, and were also less likely to engage in high-risk behavior, such as stealing and excessive drinking. In all, they scored higher than the control group on 16 indicators of well-being.

They were as strongly attached to their parents as their non-adopted siblings. Indeed, contrary to Hollywood movies portraying adopted kids mystically driven to find their biological parents, the majority of adopted teenagers rarely thought about the fact that they were adopted. (Apple's Steve Jobs has shown little interest in his biological father and corrects people who refer to his "adoptive parents," saying, "They were my parents.")

We could wipe out chronic poverty in America tomorrow -- and the new iPad would be even more awesome, if such a thing were possible! -- if only women would get married before having children or give up their illegitimate kids for adoption.

And yet, between 1979 and 2003, we went from about 600,000 babies being born out of wedlock, with about a quarter of them put up for adoption, to 1.5 million illegitimate births with fewer than 1 percent of them (14,000) given up for adoption. That's why Angelina Jolie and Madonna are constantly having to break up tribal wars to adopt Third World children.

A 2008 study led by Georgia State University economist Benjamin Scafidi conservatively estimated that single mothers cost the U.S. taxpayer $112 billion every year -- in addition to asking the rest of us to keep an eye on their kids while they go clubbing.

We could have had two Iraq wars -- Obama could have "saved or created" half a million stimulus jobs -- at that price.

But in fact, Scafidi underestimated single mothers' burden to society by excluding additional costs of single mothers to poverty programs such as the Earned Income Tax Credit.

That makes his estimates very low: Single mothers are six times more likely to be in poverty than married families. More than 80 percent of homeless families are single mothers.

Scafidi's study also did not consider the burden single mothers place on law enforcement because of their higher likelihood to neglect or kill their children.

Eighty-five percent of mothers who kill their children through neglect are single mothers.

The plague of single motherhood isn't an inevitable decay brought on by stupid choices of the underclass. Destroying the family is the active social policy of liberals. They enjoy experimenting with other people's lives and leaving the taxpayer with the bill.

The mainstream media and Hollywood studios are constantly issuing propaganda about the joys and triumphs of single mothers.

Thus, for example, the noted scientific periodical Us Weekly celebrated single motherhood with an article titled "The New Single Moms and How They Do It," which delusionally proclaimed that the "sisters are doing it for themselves."

No, they're not. They're "doing it" at an enormous and unasked-for cost to every man, woman and child in America. They're doing it at incalculable cost to the children themselves, such as helpless, innocent Caylee.

A 2007 New York Times op-ed column about three gold-diggers fighting for custody of Anna Nicole Smith's illegitimate daughter said: "Surely this change is a welcome corrective to the injustice of traditional marriage laws and family values that stigmatized 'bastards' for life."

Except one can't help noticing how many more illegitimate children there are -- and the accompanying child abuse, neglect, suicide, runaways and murders -- now that the stigma is gone.

Here's the single biggest difference between the liberal versus Conservative approach to crime and the causes behind it. Tidal Wave Debris To Soon Reach West Coast Shorelines

Scientists using computer models say the wreckage, which is scattered across hundreds of miles of the Pacific Ocean, is expected to reach Midway and the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands by next spring and beaches in California, Oregon and Washington in 2013 or early 2014.

"Can you imagine San Francisco put through a shredder? A big grinder?" said Curtis Ebbesmeyer, a Seattle oceanographer who has studied marine debris for more than 20 years.

"The area north of Tokyo was basically shredded. We are going to see boats, parts of homes, lots of plastic bottles, chair cushions, kids' toys, everything."

Ever since public, congressional and union anger and anxiety persuaded the Environmental Protection Agency to delay action on its economy-strangling carbon dioxide rules, EPA has been on a take-no-prisoners crusade to impose other job-killing rules for electricity generating plants.

As President Obama said when America rejected cap-tax-and-trade, “there’s more than one way to skin the cat.” If Congress won’t cooperate, his EPA will lead the charge. Energy prices will “skyrocket.” Companies that want to build coal-fired power plants will “go bankrupt.” His administration will “fundamentally transform” our nation’s energy, economic, industrial and social structure.

EPA’s proposed “mercury and air toxics” rules for power plants are built on the false premise that we are still breathing the smog, soot and poisons that shrouded London, England and Gary, Indiana sixty years ago. In reality, US air quality improved steadily after the 1970 Clean Air Act was enacted.

Moreover, since 1990, even as US coal use more than doubled, coal-fired power plant emissions declined even further: 58% for mercury, 67% for nitrogen oxides, 70% for particulates, 85% for sulfur dioxide – and just as significantly for most of the other 80 pollutants that EPA intends to cover with its 946-pages of draconian proposed regulations.

It’s time to clear the political air – and scrub out some of the toxic disinformation that EPA and its allies have been emitting for months, under a multi-million-dollar “public education” campaign that EPA has orchestrated and funded, to frighten people into supporting its new rules. PR firms, religious and civil rights groups, environmental activists and college students are eagerly propagating the myths.

EPA’s “most wanted” outlaw is mercury. But for Americans this villain is as real as Freddy or Norman Bates. To turn power plant mercury emissions into a mass killer, EPA cherry-picked studies and data, and ignored any that didn’t fit its “slasher” film script. As my colleague Dr. Willie Soon and I pointed out in our Wall Street Journal and Investor’s Business Daily articles, US power plants account for just 0.5% of mercury emitted into North American’s air; the other 99.5% comes from natural and foreign sources.

Doesn't matter as to the right nor wrong of the "scientific" data the Obama-led EPA talks about; they're the GOVERNMENT and the GOVERNMENT has the last word, because, after all, they're the GOVERNMENT.

Hard to even imagine how the Founding Fathers would handle a jerk like this moron. Oh wait, no its not. Shot up his guys and sent them packing.

The Community Organizer Takes A Break From Golfing To Demand That Congress GetTo Work

The first presidential press conference in three months brought the real Barack Obama clearly into focus and what America, and even the liberal press corps witnessed was not pretty.

Rather than the uniter, visionary leader who they manufactured and sold to the American public, MSNBC analyst Mark Halperin used an off-color pejorative that is a synonym for jerk to describe Obama. Of course, after receiving complaints from the White House, that analyst has been suspended indefinitely. Somehow I don’t remember swift suspensions following various attacks that were far cruder against Sarah Palin, but that is another story.

Even more important than the revelation that the anointed one is actually a jerk who talks down to anyone who doesn’t bow to his commands, was the incredible site of a president who is renowned for playing basketball and golf demanding that Congress “get to work.”

This is audacious even for someone who “wrote” two autobiographies before he had ever done anything.

The “get to work” order comes from a man who submitted a budget to Congress this year that garnered zero votes in the Senate. Not one member of the U.S. Senate was willing to vote for Obama’s vision for America. Harry Reid voted no. Barbara Boxer voted no. Even socialist/independent Bernie Sanders voted no. Obama could not lead anyone to vote for his vision.

The “get to work” order comes from a man who has studiously attempted to avoid involvement in the day to day negotiations over the fiscal future of the nation.

Ironically, the “get to work” order was directed at Republicans in Congress who have passed a budget in the House of Representatives, proposed a plan to deal with the looming Medicare bankruptcy, and have had the courage to tackle sacred cows.

In contrast, the Senate Democrats have not even bothered to offer a budget, let alone pass one, for more than two years. The Senate Democrats and Obama himself have sought to use Republican attempts to begin addressing and saving Medicare for their own political advantage through a campaign of deliberate misrepresentation and knowingly false scare tactics.

Rather than being the adult in the room, Obama showed himself to be the churlish child who stomps, pouts and spits invective when he doesn’t get his way. Hardly helpful in an already tense discussion pressed against a short time frame before the United States government runs out of money to pay all of its bills.

Of course, Obama’s attitude did cheer one person, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who applauded his performance, which probably says more about why she is the former speaker than anything else.

Over the past few months it has become fashionable to compare Obama’s presidency to the disastrously incompetent Jimmy Carter years. I have begun to think this is too kind to Obama as he begins to look more and more like James Buchanan, a man overwhelmed by circumstances whose deer-in-the-headlights approach led to the inevitability of the civil war.

However, the one thing that can be counted upon with this president is that unlike Buchanan, he will not go away easily. Right after his incredible demand that Congress “get to work,” Obama flew off to Pennsylvania, a key electoral state where his approval ratings have been in the dumpster lately, to raise a little campaign cash. It is reassuring that in this world where every assumption about our nation’s future seems to be in question that one thing remains the same.

The modern politician seems to always think of the American people first, at least those Americans who have check books big enough to fund his re-election ambitions.

The Declaration of Independence concludes with the words, “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

It sure would be nice if the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue took those words to heart and served as a leader rather than a bullhorn-wielding community organizer.

There are no words to respond His AWESOMENESS, but let my poor talents take a stab at it: Listen, jerkwad; time to stop making a mockery of the office so hows about you go back to golfing and shooting hoops and tossing out ceremonial pitches. All of the above you suck at too but at least they do no harm.

As Our Birthday Beckons...

More than a hundred years ago, so-called "Progressives" began a campaign to undermine the Constitution's strict limitations on government, which stood in the way of self-anointed political crusaders imposing their grand schemes on all the rest of us. That effort to discredit the Constitution continues to this day, and the arguments haven't really changed much in a hundred years.

The cover story in the July 4th issue of Time magazine is a classic example of this arrogance. It asks of the Constitution: "Does it still matter?"

A long and rambling essay by Time magazine's managing editor, Richard Stengel, manages to create a toxic blend of the irrelevant and the erroneous.

The irrelevant comes first, pointing out in big letters that those who wrote the Constitution "did not know about" all sorts of things in the world today, including airplanes, television, computers and DNA.

This may seem like a clever new gambit but, like many clever new gambits, it is a rehash of arguments made long ago. Back in 1908, Woodrow Wilson said, "When the Constitution was framed there were no railways, there was no telegraph, there was no telephone,"

In Mr. Stengel's rehash of this argument, he declares: "People on the right and left constantly ask what the framers would say about some event that is happening today."

Maybe that kind of talk goes on where he hangs out. But most people have enough common sense to know that a constitution does not exist to micro-manage particular "events" or express opinions about the passing scene.

A constitution exists to create a framework for government -- and the Constitution of the United States tries to keep the government inside that framework.

The elite have forever hated our Constitution, as it leaves no ground for true royalty. And Mr. Stengel of Time magazine...being liberal down to the fiber of his genetic being...knows in his heart of hearts that the smart, sophisticated people should but snap their smart and sophisticated fingers to get things done, regardless what we, the dumb and unsophisticated happen to think about it.

King George was a lot like that too.

The Constitution itself is a wonder of simplicity. Simply ask yourself, what would a free man of good will do, and bingo, there's the answer to every question in the known universe.

"Free" being the operative word. A word Mr. Stengel and his liberal brethren despise.

Holland abandoning multiculturalism

In a landmark turnabout, one of the cornerstones of contemporary liberalism is being rejected by one of the fountainheads of liberalism. The politically correct doctrine of multiculturalism is heading for decline, as Holland, one of the most socially liberal societies on earth, is reversing its former policy of multiculturalism. Soeren Kern, writing for Hudson New York, covers an important story that has gotten almost no notice from the American media, which wishes to pretend that multiculturalism works just fine:

A new integration bill (covering letter and 15-page action plan), which Dutch Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner presented to parliament on June 16, reads: "The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people. In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society play a central role. With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society."
The letter continues: "A more obligatory integration is justified because the government also demands that from its own citizens. It is necessary because otherwise the society gradually grows apart and eventually no one feels at home anymore in the Netherlands. The integration will not be tailored to different groups."
The new integration policy will place more demands on immigrants. For example, immigrants will be required to learn the Dutch language, and the government will take a tougher approach to immigrants to ignore Dutch values or disobey Dutch law.
The government will also stop offering special subsidies for Muslim immigrants because, according to Donner, "it is not the government's job to integrate immigrants." The government will introduce new legislation that outlaws forced marriages and will also impose tougher measures against Muslim immigrants who lower their chances of employment by the way they dress. More specifically, the government will impose a ban on face-covering Islamic burqas as of January 1, 2013.

Saying that Holland is socially liberal sort of misses the point.

The Dutch are something of a free-wheeling lot, but it was always with the understanding that they knew they could handle it, and handle it they did until the intrusion of the islamic curse.

To them, being socially liberal meant the government kept its nose out of peoples business. That worked just fine, too. I'm biased because the Dutch love Americans and I was always treated marvelously by my Dutch hosts, and that...back when I was far younger and slightly wilder...meant I returned the favor by not embarrassing anyone with any silly ass Angry-American bullswaddle.

It wasn't easy. The rest of the world is forever asking about Americans inventing this, or the first ones to do that, because regardless of what liberals would have you believe, Europe was and has pretty much remained thankful that we defeated Hitler and Tojo for them.

This could easily lead to a swelled head, but the Dutch themselves were good teachers and I thoroughly enjoyed their way of life. And seriously now, they didn't care a lick if an American didn't speak Dutch, quite the contrary, as they liked to hear Americanese.

But leave it to the moslems to screw things up. Moslems CANNOT be assimilated into ANY society that does not follow strict islamic law. Case closed, Katie bar the door. And I am happy to see the Dutch fighting back to regain their culture.

Nutcase Chicago Top Cop Declares Federal Gun Laws "RACIST!"

Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy earlier this month told parishioners at St. Sabina’s Church that federal gun laws are akin to “government-sponsored racism.”

“I want you to connect one more dot on that chain of African-American history in this country, and tell me if I’m crazy: Federal gun laws that facilitate the flow of illegal firearms into our urban centers, across this country, that are killing black and brown children,” he said according to an WMAQ-Channel 5 story that aired Thursday.

McCarthy can be heard telling the congregation in the video about the NRA, “The NRA does not like me, and I’m OK with that.”

McCarthy went on to say that in the debate about gun control, there has to be “a recognition of who’s paying the price for gun manufacturers being rich and living in gated communities.”

McCarthy told parishioners an anecdote about a brutal night of killings in Newark, N.J., where he was previously head of the police department. McCarthy said that after he got home that night, he turn on the TV to relax, and tuned in to Sarah Palin’s Alaska.

“She was caribou-hunting and talking about the right to bear arms,” McCarthy said. “Why wasn’t she at the crime scene with me?”

McCarthy also told parishioners that “everybody is afraid of race. I’m not afraid of race.”

In a statement Thursday, McCarthy said “strong gun laws against illegal firearms are critical in order to maintain public safety and private rights.”

So lets make some sense of this outburst of stupidity. Despite the 20,000 or so gun laws in America, Dingleberry McCarthy wants even more, or to be precise, "stronger" ones. Against only illegal guns, mind you, unless Sarah Palin is the one toting them.

Despite the irrefutable fact that "black and brown" people break the existing gun laws more so than anyone. and are responsible for 3/4 of all the violent criminal acts in America, Dingleberry McCarthy wants to protect black and brown people from themselves by penalizing white and somewhat tan people (Floridians need a voice in this too) from legally owning legal firearms, as the NRA is a staunch supporter of.

I looked it up I really did, and the NRA...who Dingle says doesn't like him, sniff, has never asked white and tan gun owners to sell their firearms to thugs to go and kill black and brown people. To the contrary. The NRA wants black and brown people to LEGALLY own and carry guns too, in order to protect themselves from the black and brown criminals who hunt them like prey animals.

Seems as if Dingleberry McCarthy really really believes that black and brown people cannot be trusted with guns. Well, he's a democrat, a follower of the party of slavery, so of course he doesn't like them or trust them or think they deserve the same rights as everyone else.

As a top cop in the windy ~~shitty~~ city, Dingleberry is anti-gun and that means anti black and brown since they are the ones needing the most protection.

But he blames...wait for it...wait for it...

You and me.

And ya know what, I find myself agreeing with him. There should be tougher penalties handed down to people that harm and kill innocent people. So lets institute the death penalty for anyone, black, brown, white or tan, who uses a firearm as a man-killer just for the fun of it. Fry them, hang them, shoot them full of badass dope that brings on an instant dirt nap.

That'd sure stop the flow of illegal guns, now wouldn't it, Dingleberry. Dead men sell no ammo, partner. So push for them there stronger sentences, Dingle old buddy; we're behind you all the way and are ready to throw the switch.

Stutterer In Chief Says He Awarded Medal of Honor To Living Soldier When In Fact It Was Posthumously

During his remarks to troops at Fort Drum today, the President was reminiscing about the times he has spent with the US Army's 10th Mountain Division, when he got something wrong.

"Throughout my service, first as a senator and then as a presidential candidate and then as a President, I’ve always run into you guys. And for some reason it’s always in some rough spots.

First time I saw 10th Mountain Division, you guys were in southern Iraq. When I went back to visit Afghanistan, you guys were the first ones there. I had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously."

The problem is, Jared Monti was killed in action in Afghanistan, on June 21, 2006. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously, September 17, 2009. President Obama handed the framed medal to his parents, Paul and Janet Monti. He and the First Lady comforted them in the Oval Office following the ceremony.

I contacted the White House to see what happened. I'm told the President didn't have prepared remarks.

The question remains as to why they let this guy out of his cage without a handler.

Then again, he sleeps with Michelle so maybe it isn't all that easy telling the living from the dead.

US, Japan to Delay Futenma Relocation Plan

WASHINGTON -- After 15 years of controversy and deadlock -- and now new pressures to rein in spending -- U.S. and Japanese officials on Tuesday are expected to push back the timeline for relocating thousands of Marines stationed on Okinawa.

The announcement amounts to a concession that the larger realignment plan for U.S. military forces across the Pacific is unachievable.

“It does not take a math prodigy to look at the calendar, look at the original timelines that were laid out, look at the progress that’s been made and make a determination about what can and can’t be completed between now and 2014,” said a senior administration official briefing reporters Monday on the condition of anonymity. “So I think you can expect to [see] coming out of the meeting [Tuesday] a readjustment of the timeline going forward in a way that is more realistic and that will allow us to achieve our joint and mutual goals.”

Yeah, we should get out of Japan. Since they still don't have ANY natural resources to speak of, it'd take them decades to rearm again, so who cares?

We'll all be old or dead so leave it to the kids to work it out.

Oh and while we're at it, let's return the favor and order all Japanese out of America.

American Cancer Society Declares Poverty A Carcinogen

It's not Styrofoam or cellphones or tobacco that are killing us.

It's poverty.

A report released Friday by the American Cancer Society echoes a 1989 statement by Dr. Samuel A. Broder, then director of the National Cancer Institute, who said that poverty is a carcinogen.

As for why, the report said that people who are lower on the economic ladder are more likely to engage in risky behavior —- partly because marketing for products such as tobacco is aimed specifically at them, and partly because of barriers —- societal and otherwise —- to opportunities for exercise and healthy food.

And then impoverished people don't tend to engage in preventive medical care, which they can't afford, so that by the time they seek treatment, it's too often too late.

Damn. Stop smoking and drinking, cut back on red meat, exercise as often as practical, keep the overall caloric intake down to prohibit weighing more than a quarter ton...and now...

Staying the hell away from poor people or risk contact with yet another carcinogen.

Will the government wrap them in warning labels with graphic pictures outlining the terrible risk of exposure?

School choice one of the answers in preparing youngsters for good jobs

Siemens, the German engineering group, is having difficulty filling job openings in the U.S.

With an unemployment rate of 9.1 percent, how is that possible?

Eric Spiegel, chief executive in the U.S. for Siemens, said in an interview with Financial Times that, “There’s a mismatch between the jobs that are available, at least in our portfolio, and the people that we see out there. There is a shortage (of workers with the right skills.)”

For contrast, the article goes on to say that a Volkswagen plant had 85,000 applicants for 2,000 jobs at its new plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

America spends far more on education than most other nations, so why is its workforce lagging behind? There are jobs to be had, but the industries hiring say the knowledge, education and performance levels needed for these jobs aren’t being found in the U.S.

While the Obama Administration and Department of Labor tout that more job training and government intervention would solve this problem, why not fix the problem at its roots—America’s current education system.

One simple and cost effective way to do so is to allow students and parents to choose what school they attend and what kind of education they want to receive. And that is exactly what many states are doing during this time of budget cuts and fiscal restraint. In fact, over the past five years, the number of states that have enacted school choice programs has doubled.

Red states will embrace these sort of programs while blue states will fight them tooth and nail, such as what we see in NY and California. Most of the reasons behind such recalcitrance is of course the teachers unions that see cushy jobs disappearing right and perhaps even left.

And Obama's ideas are simply stupid.

Providing additional training to youngsters who cannot read, write, or speak even colloquial English because they've been promoted to fulfill quota systems, will NEVER benefit from any genuine training program. Just ask anyone in Human Resources how difficult it is to find young, and even middle-aged workers in some areas, who can spell much of anything other their name.

The REAL training programs begin with Kindergarten.

Liberals have kept certain ethnic groups barefoot and pregnant and now they've assured that they must rely upon government giveaways because there isn't a decent paying private company that will hire them.

That we are after Libya’s oil is particularly untenable for the simple reason that Libya is only a bit player in the world oil market. It is not even among our top 15 crude oil suppliers. The U.S. consumes about 20 million barrels a day and Libya produces 1.7 million barrels for the whole globe. America lost 1 million barrels a day during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the U.S. economy barely hiccuped.

Send Out Unemployment Checks

Federal officials announced Wednesday that California will receive more than $800 million in funding to help the unemployed as the state struggles to deal with the economy and a huge budget hole.
The U.S. Department of Labor said it will immediately release the money under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The state can use the funds to pay unemployment benefits, provide employment services or administer the state’s unemployment insurance program, the department said in a statement.
“The federal government made these funds available as an incentive for states to strengthen their safety net as our economy continues to recover,” Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis said.
California was hard-hit by the recession and while the unemployment rate has dropped recently it remains well above the national average of around 9 percent. The most recent tally put the unemployment rate at 11.9 percent in April, down from a modern record of 12.6 percent reached in March 2010.

Brooklyn Man Shoots At Street Gang...Mother Of Girl Slightly Injured Praises Him

A Brooklyn gunman who opened fire on a pack of noisy teens was hailed as a hero Monday by the most unlikely of allies - the mother of the woman he inadvertently wounded.

Larisa Kaprovskaya said Thomas Dunikowski was just trying to protect them from local teens terrorizing their block.

"He shot because he wants to protect us," said Kaprovskaya, 50. "I don't know what would have happened to us if he didn't try to protect us. I appreciate him."

Kaprovskaya's 21-year-old daughter, Yana, was hit by shrapnel in her left leg when Dunikowski opened fire about 11:30p.m. Saturday.

Yana Kaprovskaya was not badly hurt, her mother said. She said Dunikowski stood up for them after the cops disregarded their pleas for help.

"It was so dangerous," the mom said. "I didn't know what was happening."

Dunikowski, 30, was slapped with a raft of charges for using a semiautomatic hunting rifle to open fire on the teens in Marine Park, cops said.

The wounded youths were identified as 17-year-old Francis Ruan and David Mahoney, 15, police said.

Kaprovskaya said Dunikowski is a family man who lives with his wife, Kimberly, and their 2-year-old son.

Another neighbor, John Westbay, felt sorry for the shooter.

"I can understand why he did it," Westbay said. "It's not the first time we've had this trouble."

Police said Monday they had no record of previous 911 calls from the shooter's home on Stuart St.

This is how the NYPD rolls.

Takes a day or two for them to "lose" the 911 calls, but lose them they most certainly do.

Call it job security. Because when law abiding people have finally taken enough from street gangs they should take matters into their own hands. Not the law into their own hands, as some liberals would whinge about, but the RIGHT to fight back. Parts of Los Angeles...and larger and larger parts each year...are forever lost to the street thugs, and praise should be given anytime someone says no to such monsters.

Back when I grew up in NYC, each neighborhood took care of itself. Almost each neighborhood but that's neither here nor there. Lets just say each neighborhood worthy of the name. Men didn't need to shoot at the night scum but if they had to they would have and gladly so. Most of the time all it took was a father to race down the stairs and begin kicking ass. He'd be followed by another then another until the beasts were either beaten to the ground or ran for their lives.

The cops were different back then too. If they arrived at such a scene they'd usually jump right into the slugfest to help clear the sidewalks of the dog shit that had stained it.

Now they spit on their vows and help the criminals.

Mr. Dunikowski is going to pay dearly for his courage. In NYC and other dirty places, men aren't allowed to protect their families so Mr. Dunikowski is going to do time no matter how many ambulance chasers jump in to "help" him and get their names in the papers.

Its my fault and your fault; all men of otherwise good will must share this shame. We let the country sink this low and as penance it would be a good idea to stop the craziness where it was born and at the very least keep it away from our side of the wall.

Allows the Division of Licensing of the DOACS to take fingerprints from concealed carry license applicants. Provides that a person may not openly carry a weapon or firearm or carry a concealed weapon or firearm into specified locations. Provides that concealed carry licensees shall not be prohibited from carrying or storing a firearm in a vehicle for lawful purposes, etc.

EFFECTIVE DATE: upon becoming a law

Scott waited awhile but finally put the pen to this halfass bill today. Now it'll take, oh, lets say 3 or 4 years before the word filters down to law enforcement. And to some counties it won't really matter as they'll continue to harass law abiding citizens anyway.

PMC Starfire remains the preeminent brand of ammunition with regards to expansion upon impact. These rounds were all shot through water jugs, with the best mushroom coming darn close to .9" across.Take notice of the round fired through 6 layers of denim. Slightly less expansion but lots of talon-looking things, and deeper penetration because the expansion was curtailed a tad.

And all from a .40 caliber bullet. Federal's JHP's are a close second, with Winchester Ranger-T a nasty round with claws and hooks and lord knows what else, but not so much expansion.

If you gaze to the righthand margin you'll see my profile picture featuring a PMC Starfire in .38 Special, and to its right one loaded for .357 magnum. Terminal ballistics for the 38/357 are very close to the .40, with somewhat more deformation due to the extra oomph the magnum creates.
