For 74 years Santa has been on coke products during the holiday season, but not so this year. Coke loves the polar bears so it's no Santa for you, and don't for a moment believe it's just an advertising decision devoid of any depth, because it's not. Santa has been regarded by some...who these some are no one can tell me...as a religious icon and good old Coke isn't taking any chances this year so see ya Claus.
If anything, Santa is the anti-religious symbol of Christmas, replacing Christ with a jolly old elf or so the Sisters of Mercy drilled into me year after year back in the good old days. Regardless, Coke could have made a damned strong statement by flashing the bird at the likes of the ACLU fools but weaseled when the time came to shit or get off the pot.
