Stop The ACLU's Blogburst Thursday...

"...each and every legal scholar who has looked at the program has agreed that no laws have been broken.

The ACLU is listed as a non-profit organization. They claim to be non-partisan. But it seems awfully odd that the only members of Congress that are members of the ACLU are Democrats and that the ACLU publicly opposes any proposal sponsored by Republicans. And it seems awfully odd that each time they win a case, they take a larger cut of the settlement than their clients.

The ACLU feeds of the weak minded. They rely on the apathetic uniformed morons who fill out the little form and send it in with their $25 each year to get their little card in the mail so that they can go around saying that they are “card carrying members of the ACLU”. If these people had half the intelligence that they claim to have, they would look into the dealings of the ACLU and come to the same conclusions that we have. That their actual goal is destruction of the United States as we know it."

Truer words are hard to find, as Stop tells us of the latest attempt by the ACLU to weaken America. The upside is the fact that many of us will pass this nonsense along so that those who aren't so gullible may be forewarned. The downside is the fact that the tin-foil brigade will dig deeper into their pockets to fund such atrocities after being frightened out of their half-wits by yet another sky-is-falling doomsday scenario provided by elements of the Democratic Party who've brought you slavery, Ted-The-Lady-Killer-Kennedy, and lets not forget the avowed lefties who started the whole American Commie Liberals Union to begin with.

I've never shilled for anything here to get a piece of the action. What gets passed along are things I've felt were low in bullshit, high in value, and the following is worth it if you've a mind to learn, or refresh your memory.

A Primer for Hunting and Target Shooting

Shooting is something that anyone can do relatively well if they've a mind to. Conversely, the best book or teacher will be of little value if the hobby or lifestyle isn't for you, but the only way to figure it all out is to try, and efforts such as this one may help.

Madonna Is SO 80's

"Evidently Madonna is still around and she's trying to get our attention by being shocking but she's failing miserably..."

Uhhuh. Madonna is hanging from a giant cross protesting Lord knows what, because crosses are fair game because Christians are pussycats. They'll raise a stink but in checking the calender realize that going out and lopping off someone's head isn't all that cool.

So I'll join the chorus in asking all of the brave members of the entertainment media, especially the disjointed distaff's, why in the name of all thats right are they not protesting Islam's treatment of women. They have our undivided attention, because, after all, the mainstream media follows them like lap dogs and would publish anything they do or say, so if you happen to be Madonna why not get on the moslem's for beating, maiming, raping, and killing women, just for being women.

Because THAT would be a brave ass thing to do, wouldn't it. Brave for a moonbat, at least. No one is asking them to sight in a long gun and march on off to war, but ya think they'd take an at least halfhearted stab at making a statement against the worlds most dangerous, anti-female, cult.

But they're not even brave enough for that, are they. Don't have the guts to even ask why Islam does such horrific things. Don't have the guts to even mention those things.

On a daily basis, Islamic "courts" sentence young girls to death for something as simple as wearing lipstick, fathers behead daughters for being seen kissing a boyfiend, and MaLoon-A has nothing to say about that, but to get some attention hangs herself from a cross.

Wanna do something shocking, sweety? Go on national television and tear up a picture of Mohammed, in protest of his follower's treatment of women. Then call upon NOW and the Rosie O'Donnell's of the world to stand behind you in your quest to bring Islam to task for it's crimes against half of the worlds population.

Think there's any chance we'll see THAT?

Marine Corps News -> Darkhorse Marines meet locals, counter insurgency

AMERIYAH, Iraq (May 3, 2006) -- Marines with the Darkhorse battalion are using one of the most effective combat measures in Iraq. They’re easing off their trigger fingers. It’s a slight shift in attitude.

No guns blazing, more knocking and asking questions and Marines from 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment are using the tactic with great success.

Marines of Mobile Assault Platoon, Weapons Company, recently stepped up patrols and cache sweeps near Fallujah to counter an increase in improvised explosive device activity in the area. “Over the past 96 hours we’ve had a dramatic impact,” said Gunnery Sgt. Brett Turek, MAP platoon commander. He said the number of IEDs planted in the area dropped sharply since the operation began. The unit uses a cordon-and-knock method to fight the insurgency in the neighborhood, going house-to-house and talking to the locals.

“Right now we’re basically meeting and greeting the people and checking their houses to see if there’s anything suspicious in there,” said Pfc. Javier Villarreal, a 21-year-old infantryman from El Paso, Texas assigned to MAP. “Hopefully they’ll give us information.”The friendly approach to searching is a result of the changing mission in Iraq, according to Staff Sgt. Jesse Thompson, section leader for MAP.“We’re not here to do what we were doing last year,” he said. “We want them to understand we’re here to help them, not hurt.”

"There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion." Anonymous.

Stop The ACLU's Jay...not Crazy Jay, my reloader/chronographer-extraordinaire shooting-buddy from Iowa...has been working overtime to pass along some good scoop on everything from Iran claiming they've tested a long range missile, to this:

"The American Civil Liberties Union today expressed its alarm over the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence vote to confirm General Michael V. Hayden as the next Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. The committee voted 12 to 3 to name the former Director of the National Security Agency to the highest position at the CIA.

The ACLU is a non-partisan organization, and takes no position on Hayden’s nomination."

Jay adds: "Right, no position! That is why they were disappointed and alarmed! I’m glad to hear that they are disappointed, because Hayden is the man needed for this job. Here is more on their non-position."

FBI Raids On Lawmaker's...Strike That...LAWBREAKER'S Office Being Questioned...

Not professing to be a legal expert, but since we all know that the profession is populated by criminals and madmen, I'm going to resort to common sense before looking deeper into this story gives me a migraine. Not that I've ever had one, but ambulance chasers can task me.

Old Newt himself is saying that the FBI sting operation... that added substantial evidence to the premise that all black officials in La. are incompetent scoundrels who'd sell their own mother to the highest bidder...was the wrong thing to do:

"Former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), in an e-mail to colleagues with the subject line "on the edge of a constitutional confrontation," called the Saturday night raid "the most blatant violation of the Constitutional Separation of Powers in my lifetime." He urged President Bush to discipline or fire "whoever exhibited this extraordinary violation."

Many legal experts and defense lawyers agreed with Gingrich. Charles Tiefer, a University of Baltimore law professor who served as solicitor and deputy general counsel of the House for 11 years, called the raid "an intimidating tactic that has never before been used against the legislative branch."

"The Framers, who were familiar with King George III's disdain for their colonial legislatures, would turn over in their graves," Tiefer said.

Washington defense lawyer Stanley M. Brand, a former general counsel for the House who has represented numerous lawmakers accused of wrongdoing, also questioned the government's strategy.

"This is really an over-the-top move, and it could create some real blow-back problems for them in the courts," he said.

But Viet D. Dinh, a former assistant attorney general in the Bush administration who is now a Georgetown University law professor, said that "the raid on his offices itself does not define a constitutional issue."

The constitutional privilege for lawmakers does not "expand to insulate everything that goes on in a congressional office, especially if there's allegations of abuse of process or bribery," Dinh said. ". . . The fine line is whether or not it relates to a legislative process or not, not whether they've raided his office."

It would appear that the FBI broke a few eggs to make one hell of an omelet, and if there was THAT much evidence pointing to this man's participation in a criminal act, then I'm all for the Feds dragging dragging his ass out of the building and into an awaiting paddy wagon if need be. To my way of thinking, hiding behind a badge of office and getting away with bloody murder...think Teddy K...is precisely WHY we don't cotton much to royalty, because it places someone above the common citizen for all the wrong reasons. As long as the paperwork was in order, then fry the sucker.

And yes, the liberal rags are doing all they can to make it appear that both sides of the aisle are aghast, not at the fact that this cretin took tremendous bribes, but at the FBI's overzealous attack on poor Representative Jefferson.

Does this surprise anyone?

Taheri Stands By Iranian Dress Code Story

May 23, 2006 -- EDITORS' NOTE: The Associated Press and others have challenged Amir Taheri's account (published in The Post on Saturday) of the proposed new Iranian dress code, noting that the law does not specify badges for religious minorities. Below is his reply.

"REGARDING the Iran dress code story, it seems that some media outlets used my column as the basis for reports that jumped the gun.

As far as my article is concerned, I stand by it.

The law has been passed by the Islamic Majlis and will now be submitted to the Council of Guardians. A committee has been appointed to work out the modalities of implementation."

Why is it, ya think, that the Loons will rush to believe a murderous, Jew-hating, America-hating regime over just about anyone else? You know, the type of guy or gal who commented on my post about the badges all non-moslems in Iran might be forced to wear?

Jew hating and America-hating is enough? Is that all it takes for them to believe the word of international criminals who are desperately trying to spread their cult throughout the world?

Well Isn't This Just Swell

Thieves Steal Personal Data of 26.5M Vets WASHINGTON (AP) -
Thieves took sensitive personal information on 26.5 million U.S. veterans, including Social Security numbers and birth dates, after a Veterans Affairs employee improperly brought the material home, the government said Monday. The information involved mainly those veterans who...

Just what we all needed. More spam and junk mail and posers. When I joined the Corps we weren't using Social Security #'s, and lots of folks predicted that something like this would happen when they switched everyone over. Bad enough I had a dead mans service number. For a while the Marines had the bright idea to recycle the numbers back into use , and some day I'll tell of the hassle in being told you're dead because some office pogue screwed the pooch.

One More Ammo Story Then We'll Move On

"I recently had a patient shot with 2 .40 cal Gold Dots (by the police) to the chest. Both went into the chest cavity, through the lung and I retrieved both of them from the soft tissue under his arm. One was completely expanded (as predicted in gel, with a penetration of only 8 inches. The other was only 1/2 expanded, based on recovered diameter and traveled 6 inches, having struck a rib first. The patient was not only very much alive but only needed a chest tube for36 hours and then was released to the police. The Lt. that I spoke with about the condition of the patient thought I was putting him on when I said the patient would likely be discharged in just a few days...he expected a dead patient; his experience and training with the .40 cal Gold Dots was that this bad guy should be dead from 2 center of mass hits."

Without knowing the Lt. it would be unkind of me to call him a blithering idiot so I will not. All of these inches here, and inches there, comes from the gelo test results, and what gelatin testing does is predict what will happen to a bullet when fired into gelatin. Gelatin is homogeneous, and without hide nor bone nor keychains, etc, while a person is not. Gelatin is a good way to QC bullet, and in the lab Gold Dots will do 13" or so when fired into the simulacra of a pigs thigh. Unobstructed penetration numbers are relevant to firing-squad members and those who believe that a gremlin will stand stock-still and allow you to pump round after round into his innards. Civilians do not require bonded bullets, such as the Gold Dots happen to be, because bonding lessens the chance for expansion, but increases the likelihood that the round will penetrate a barrier such as auto glass, doors, etc. Cops are forced to think of a lot of factors while all we must come to grips with is how big a hole can I blow through the sunovabitch who broke my door down. Minimum calibrated gelatin numbers are fine to use as an example of what can be expected if all things go well, but it still boils down to the size of the wound and how much permanent destructive force has been transferred to the target.

Conversely, there are far too many reports of modern hollowpoints passing straight through the intended target, and that comes directly from the fast-is-beautiful crowd who worship at the altar of kinetic energy. They stock up on relatively swift 155 grain .40 calibers and are then amazed to discover that all they've done is perfect a modern day hole punch. Wound ballistics is the study of extremes. Go over a certain velocity and, depending upon the size of the target, non-survivable wounds are almost assured, but then the dreaded "snappiness", and severe recoil effects enter into the picture, so it's off to find the magic bullet that will somehow warp the laws of physics because the marketing people say so.

The old street cop used his .357 magnum and was amazed at how well a 125 grainer @ 1600 fps, or a 158 @ 1400 took the starch right out of Mr. Bad Guy. Then strange things began to happen. The bad guy got bigger, the cop got smaller, and the media got whinier. The original 10 mm loads were designed to come close to .357 performance with more rounds available, but guess what. The recoil was too severe for smaller hands to bear, so back to the drawing board, and out came the .40 caliber. The rounds were, and continue to be too light or too slow, with regards to what police are permitted to use, and Lt's all over the country are shaking their heads wondering what's up. This isn't to say that the Gold Dot is a bad bullet. It does a lot of things reasonably well, but won't expand all that much to begin with, and clothing exacerbates the dilemma so oft times the round becomes an in-'em then-out-'em FMJ. The key to solving this problem is to increase the bullet's velocity, but we're then back to square one as recoil gives little hands the flinchies.

Law enforcement officers are taught to fire until the threat no longer exists. In this case the felon was rendered harmless after 2 shots, and all went well. Another felon of the same physiology might decide to continue to fight back and 3, 4, or a magazine full might be necessary to stop the engagement because head shots are a no-no.

There ARE bullets out there that can stop a fight a whole lot better than Gold Dots, but LE agency's have enough problems on their hands without worrying about a frenzied media screaming police brutality, so the situation isn't getting better anytime soon.

Sigh. It really pisses me off that nobody calls ME out anymores. Reach a certain age and they mumble then walk away as if taking a swipe at the old man wasn't gentlemanly. Could also be when fellers can't see around you they get lumpy-throat. Anyhoot, thought I'd cut and paste some of the free-for-all that's been passing for intelligent conversation over the RBCD bullet-fiasco. Still some folks believing that slick advertising beats physics, and I truly do feel sorry for professionals that should know better. To date, the Marines have been staying out of this All-Army cluster fuck, and I don't count 'cause nobody wants a piece for fear of retaliation from AARP.

THE SAGA CONTINUES

"I am a soldier, not a ballistician or a physician, but I will tell you that in the hundreds of rounds of LeMas (RBCD...Editor) I have fired, all have worked as intended and I have seen no failures except when rounds were completely defeated in hard armor. For example, in four counsecutive live tissue shots on caprines, every bullet functioned exactly the same way. The wounds produced look almost exactly like the ones from Dr. Vail's work and the LeMas promotional materials. I have seen the bullet function across a wide range of velocities, while I am sure that as with all expanding bullets, there is a threshold beyond which the bullet may not function to its full capability, I have not reached that in my experience."

That's fine. How many of the hundreds of rounds were taken from once-living targets that weren't slated for transformation to bacon, or blocks of clay, or gelatin. The laboratory-type media are valuable in the design of bullets but bear little or no relationship to terminal impact upon a human aggressor. Wounding an adversary means you've failed, and allowed a dangerous foeman the opportunity to continue an assault. All we want are rounds that provide the best that science can offer, not what Madison Avenue can shill. It's a life and death imperative that goes far beyond the Ford versus Chevy type debate, and when someone comes along and is proven to be a liar out for the big bucks, certain people become understandably angry.

The Sopranos

Last night's episode...and beyond

The Brokeback Mafioso was beaten to death, Carmela vacationed in Paris and acted like she'd never been to a big city, and AJ was forced to take a job with a construction company because for some reason Tony did a total about-face and went out of character by disciplining one of his children. Which means we won't have to see the utterly disgusting homosexual waddle-act anymore just because Lorraine Bracco's sister needed work so David Chase fleshed out the part for her onscreen chubby hubby. It fit in rather nicely with the buzz from Brokeback Mountain. Nicely if you feel that dropping major plot developments regarding the main characters is a good thing just to once again leap aboard a fading bandwagon, but Analyze This is a distant memory to the fans and actually thinking of something NEW is beyond the ken of hacks so what's a ripoff artist to do.

The good part is that we get less and less of having to watch an engorged Bracco morphing into Rosie O' Donnell before our very eyes, and don't have to guess how many chins she'll have in next weeks episode. Must be absolute hell paring all of her lines down to one-syllable words, then doing take after take as she flubs anything more difficult than see-spot-run.

The worst part is the fact that the season began with a good storyline. Tony trying to make it back from the brink of death, with the organization and family falling apart due to his absence. This soon degenerated into fat men in love and guest appearances for no other reason than to tack on a "big" name to the closing credits. Narrative threads were snipped in mid-climax, the directing was as bad as the first season, and the acting itself degenerated to levels unheard of in professional theatrical presentations. And lets face it, the only qualification for writing for The Sopranos is a good ear for mob-style jokes, so it's no wonder the poorly trained ensemble stood around wondering why they had nothing to do most times but nod back and forth to one another. Real actors can do that. It's called a "Beat". Writers put it in parentheticals when they're developing a script, and while a Gandolfini can take a Beat and tell a great story using the silence alone, Sopranos writers soon came to the conclusion that the LESS the other actors said, the better.

Next week it's the last 3 episodes back to back to brokeback, in preparation for the season finale. Close attention was paid to the viewing public's reaction to Tony abed, so look for next seasons' final 8 episodes ever to reflect what they feel the people want to see. That's until yet another flash in the pan liberal movie gets Chase's attention and he drops everything to "borrow" the storyline. Too bad Oliver Stone's horrid tale of 9/11 will be old hat by then. They could have had the cast rushing in and out of the Empire State Building to thwart a plot to level it with Kong on top holding gay cowboys in each hand, up until Uncle Junior breaks free from the hospital to warn them that it's really a Pentagon scheme to fly a plane into the building and blame it on the Iranians.

LA Congressthing On Tape Taking Bribe Money...

"A congressman under investigation for bribery was caught on videotape accepting $100,000 in $100 bills from an FBI informant whose conversations with the lawmaker also were recorded, according to a court document released Sunday. Agents later found the cash hidden in his freezer.
At one audiotaped meeting, Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., chuckles about writing in code to keep secret what the government contends was his corrupt role in getting his children a cut of a communications company’s deal for work in Africa".

As Jefferson and the informant passed notes about what percentage the lawmaker’s family might receive, the congressman “began laughing and said, ‘All these damn notes we’re writing to each other as if we’re talking, as if the FBI is watching,”‘ according to the affidavit.
Jefferson, who represents New Orleans, has not been charged and denies any wrongdoing.
"Wasn’t Jefferson the one that used the National Guard to remove items from his home during the flooding? Don’t you remember, he had them back the truck up to the door and the truck got stuck. Then they had to call in another truck to pull them out. And the Congressman, had to be evacuated by the Coast Guard while the National Guard was waiting on the second truck to pull the first truck out of the Congressman’s waterlogged front lawn."

It continues to amaze me that FEMA and Bush are still being vilified over the New Orleans non-response to Katrina. Nagin' gets re-elected, and Jefferson caught with bribe money, but none of it makes any difference or sense because NO will always be the Big Easy in more ways than can be imagined. Makes me sick to see that wretched city back in the news for ANY reason other than it sank in the middle of the night and remains missing.

Was sent this pic, but the return email is now inoperative and I've one question:

The pistol-rest off to the side; Can't remember what their called but do remember using one and they were pretty good for benching a new weapon or load.

I'd be interested in knowing the manufacturer, so please email me back and I promise not to ask why your grip was so bad the gun is flipping up to the sky like that.

EDITED TO ADD: Lisa says that I can catch more flies with honey, so I'm going to try. Okay, here goes. Betcha the recoil was a little bit stiff and you were probably resting your forearms on a rest while shooting, so that's the reason the pistol looks like it is aiming at the moon. Happens to me sometimes, too. Then again, my hands aren't all fat like that and I can get a much better grip but I shouldn't be surprised when other people who eat too much have problems doing all sorts of things well, and sometimes it's genetic too. Also, it can't help that the gun is a Kimber and wishy-washy wristies are far more likely when shooting something with a girls name, so that's not your fault either.

Bus Hopping

Regular readers, as opposed to the irregular ones and you know who you are, know that for the past few months I've been driving Vets around, and have come to learn a little bit about buses and those that use them. There are the groupies that will try to board a particular drivers bus and ride with him all day. There are those just wishing to spend some time off their feet and in air conditioning. There are the Asians who cannot tell one type of bus from another and will run smack into the side of a moving vehicle to get the drivers attention. There are the west Indians who will try and force themselves on because they KNOW that you MUST take them to where they wish to go and the hell with the fact that you aren't driving a city bus. There are the black youth gangs, the spanish youth gangs, and the jock youth gangs that tolerate all nationalities as long as one is a sports star on campus. Many will try to beg, steal, or bargain away the fare, even if there is no fare. Mothers will tell you that the strapping 6-footer they've brought on board is 9 years old. Other mothers will say that a child is retarded and need ride free. Women will dress animals up in babies clothing and try sneaking them aboard in a carriage or stroller. Others will tell you that the gerbil peeking out from their pocket is a registered service animal. Some obvious 40 yr olds will claim to be over 55 to get the Senior Citizen discount. Counterfeit copies of monthly bus passes go for ten dollars, saving the purchaser twenty dollars. Since ALL bus drivers are told that it is far better to board a drunk then let him drive his car into a sidewalk full of Nuns, he gets to ride free and there are nights, and even some days, when the floor is awash with vomit.

And on, and on.

So do I think it unusual that 2 middle-eastern types would wander aboard a schoolbus and ask for a ride?

No. Stranger things happen every hour of every day on all sorts of buses in all sorts of cities. But, the last 5000 or so terrorist attacks in the world have been perpetrated by moslems, so any sane person wishes to be certain that the people who would kill us just because we're us, do not get the chance to do so. These two schleps were most likely just trying to get over, and if they were black or spanish, or white trash, it'd be a small fine for the effort then on to something else.

I'm reasonable, and that means no jumping to conclusions, and no jumping to conclusions means one isn't Republican enough, or conservative enough, and the fact that I've sent many of my country's enemy's to their deity and would do so again in a heartbeat means nothing. Magicians use flash paper, some "writers" use flash-blogging, and for the same reason. To startle the rubes into paying attention. With the hope they'll soon pay cash.

But this is, and will forever remain, a no flash zone. We'll screw up for certain, but not for attention.

So then. The bail for the 2 Saudi men was revoked when one change of story lead to another, and the authorities became suspicious that all might not be as harmless as they portrayed their bus hopping to be. Not that ALL bus hoppers everywhere DON'T have a pocketfull of story's, but once burnt, twice shy. I am glad that the police decided to detain these men for further investigation. If all turns out to be well, then thats a GOOD ending. And if all turns out not so well, then that's a good ending too, as we've foiled yet another attack upon the innocent.

The Cat Is Out Of The Bag...And RBCD is Running Scared...

The following had been bugging me for quite some time:

Some observers are convinced that Special Operations Command officials’ refusals to test RBCD ammo stem from work that’s well underway at that command. For some time, the special-operations community has been conducting work on a new 6.8mm round to replace the 5.56mm. If a 5.56mm round proved to be as effective as larger 6.8mm ammo, the rationale for new ammo and a new weapon would disappear.

Thomas isn’t interested in any of the reasons that might be keeping RBCD ammo from reaching U.S. special-operations forces, but he is convinced that its use would save soldiers’ lives. An adversary hit by a blended-metal bullet — even if struck in an arm or leg — would be in no condition to continue the fight, he said.

The former SEAL’s experience with RBCD ammo should be reason enough for Pentagon officials to insist that Special Operations Command immediately begin realistic testing of the blended-metal ammunition. Further foot-dragging by the command should trigger a congressional inquiry."

RBCD has been using smoke & mirrors for so long I was wondering just when someone would take them to task and determine precisely what WAS up with their supposed new bullet technology. Not a lick of it made much sense to me, so I bided my time until the following:

RBCD Bullets Found To Be Nothing But Deceptive Advertising

That's right, gang, their so called blended metals technology proved false when at long last someone examined the cartridges in a real laboratory, and not some old retired guys backyard. Nothing but lead and plastic filler, but click the link to read it all for yourself.

EDITED TO ELABORATE

Duh. In re-reading this I came to the conclusion that perhaps not EVERYONE was aware of what RBCD is,and the amount of stir they created in the civilian, law enforcement, and military circles.

Several years ago RBCD introduced a new line of ammunition. Most of the rounds were light and super-fast...think a 77 grain .40 cal cranking along at over 2000 fps...but the real claim to fame was the metallurgy. RBCD claimed the rounds were a proprietary amalgam of metals, including platinum, that reacted to sudden impact in a far different manner than plain old lead or copper.

Accounts began trickling in from police and military sources who claimed these new munitions to be nothing short of miraculous, and I was beginning to develop an interest until I read one officer's story of how a badguy flew 6 feet through the air after being shot with a RBCD bullet, then knew that something was amiss. Nobel metals or not, the laws of physics still apply, and it appeared that some folks might have been exaggerating just a tad.

Turns out to have been lots more than a tad as the rounds were disassembled to reveal what the second link talks about.
