Julie Evolves...Fred Calls Him On It...McCain Remembers He's An American

Giuliani v. Bloomberg

New York Sun Editorial
September 24, 2007

"Mayor Giuliani's speech to the National Rifle Association is a reminder of one of the great things about democracy — the education it provides not only to voters but also to candidates. When Mr. Giuliani was serving as mayor he was inclined toward a crabbed, provincial view of the Second Amendment, which says that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed and which has been called the palladium of our liberties. He derided the National Rifle Association, the civil rights organization that focuses on the Second Amendment, and he launched a lawsuit against gun makers.

Now that Mr. Giuliani has been campaigning to transform himself from mayor of a northeastern metropolis to president of
America, he's been getting something of an education on the issue. At the NRA in Washington, it was clear that a more mature Giuliani has emerged. His endorsement of the Tiahrt Amendment, which protects the privacy of certain data on gun sales but which is opposed by Mayor Bloomberg, sets up, as our Russell Berman reports on page one, a potential confrontation with his successor in city hall as the 2008 race unfolds.

Mr. Giuliani attributed his past errors to the intensity of his fight against crime in New York City. By our lights, the great victory that Mr. Giuliani achieved against crime covers a lot of sins. But we are by no means convinced that the war on crime would have been hurt by allowing law-abiding citizens to exercise the right to keep and bear arms that is guaranteed to them in the Bill of Rights. To establish, as New York has, a gun control regime that guarantees to every criminal the near certainty that the plump-looking target walking down the street will be without a gun has always struck us, as it did the Founders of America, as folly. In Washington on Friday, Mr. Giuliani called for a "renewed emphasis on the Second Amendment," but seemed to suggest, if only by implication, that the Second Amendment applied only in some regions, a point Senator Thompson called him on.

Mr. Giuliani hung back from focusing on the cutting edge of the debate — whether the right to keep and bear belongs to state militias or to individuals. He suggested focusing on the people he views as models for the Supreme Court. He cited, according to the report in the New York Times, Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Scalia and Alito. All eyes are on the Supreme Court as the District of Columbia appeals to the high court a ruling that the right to keep and bear is precisely an individual right. The Supreme Court has not yet decided whether to grant certiorari.

The best stand on the Second Amendment taken by a candidate speaking to the NRA on Friday was by Senator McCain, who debunked what he called the "hunting myth." Said he: "If you show your bona fides by hunting ducks or varmints or quail, it makes up for support for gun control. This myth overlooks a fundamental truth: the Second Amendment is not about hunting, it is about freedom."

A spade's a spade, so good on ya, John. Julie will appeal to the fence-sitters who believe that "sensible" gun control is, after all, a good thing, so it's up to us to pitch in whenever we can and stand firmly behind the words of Senator McCain. No, I won't vote for him, too many photo-hugs with the likes of Ted (Dick-Em & Dunk-Em) Kennedy for me to disremember, but he might very well make someone a good VP.

Listening, Fred?

Homeowner aids in arrests of two

SUBTITLED: There's Chicago Police...Then There's Alabama Police

DEATSVILLE, ALABAMA -- "The homeowner normally wouldn't have been home in the middle of the day. He should have been at work. But he came home at 1 p.m. Tuesday to check on a cable repair job.

Lucky for him he did.

When the Deatsville man pulled into his driveway in the Dusty Trail neighborhood, he saw a strange car and noticed the front door was standing open. He suspected something was wrong. And he was right.

Inside, two would-be burglars were ransacking the house.

"He went inside and confronted them," said Capt. Joe Sedinger of the Autauga County Sheriff's Department. "They told him they were looking for somebody who owed them money. He didn't buy it. They ran out, he met them around front and shot the tire out."

The victim, whom Sedinger would not identify, used a 20-gauge shotgun to blast the rear tire of a Kia coupe as the suspects attempted to speed away. His aim was true, and it helped deputies make an arrest.

Sgt. Casey Ott found the suspects a short time later along a secluded dirt road, attempting to change the flat tire.

"One of them looked like he was going to run," Ott said. "I drew down on them and got them on the ground. I called for backup, and help came pretty quick."

Arrested on burglary charges were Gary Arnold Alvies, 22, of 409 Mockingbird St., Prattville, and Aaron Michael Pace, 22, of 208 Deer Trace, Prattville.

They are being held in the Autauga County Metro Jail under no bonds pending a parole revocation hearing, courthouse records show. Both are on parole for theft-related charges, the records showed.

Sheriff Herbie Johnson applauded the quick action of the homeowner.

"A man has the right to protect himself, his family and his property," said Johnson. "I'm so proud of him. I'm thinking about buying him a box of shells so he can keep that shotgun loaded."

Sergeant Ott, Chief Johnson, you two are men after my own heart. Thanks for standing up for the rights of a fellow American. And to you, Mr. Unknown, good shootin' hoss.

Store Clerk Shoots Thieving Scum

CHICAGO "A store clerk on the West Side fought back against an alleged robber, shooting him in the head. Chicago police say Monday evening the suspect is in stable condition.

As CBS 2's Mike Flannery reports, the hardware store is just one block from another store that police say was robbed at gunpoint last week.

Police believe a hole in the front door of South Side Hardware was created by one of the shots fired as a clerk tried to defend himself from an armed robber.

Friends of the hardware store clerk said they did not know whether the handgun he fired in self-defense was legally registered. They said they hope he is not charged with any crime."

And therein lies the rub. This brave man may not have had PERMISSION to defend his very life, and I'm here to tell you brothers that he's going to jail if thats the case. Chicago is run by the minority gangs, corrupt police who turn a blind eye to the Constitution, and the smarmy politicians that support them both.

EEK! It's A Real Man!!

Marines Barred From Filming Commercial on Streets of San Francisco

"They're the strong and the proud, but the Marines aren't free to stand on the streets of San Francisco.

The Silent Drill Platoon of the U.S. Marine Corps wasn't allowed to be filmed Sept. 11 on California Street in San Francisco for a segment of its new advertising campaign, a Marine spokesman told FOXNews.com.

Instead, the elite group took its austere display to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area for the final segment of its "America's Marines" TV commercial. The group is on a two-month nationwide tour as part of the campaign."

Gays Squeeking Back At Ahmadinejad..Feminazi's Still Mum

"In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said at Columbia University on Monday in response to a question about the recent execution of two gay men there.

"In Iran we do not have this phenomenon," he continued. "I do not know who has told you we have it."

Loud laughs and boos broke from the audience of about 700 people, mostly students at the Ivy League school whose garb included "Stop Ahmadinejad's Evil" T-shirts.

Everyone from presidential candidates to September 11 families had expressed outrage that Ahmadinejad would speak there.

After his assertions that Israel persecutes Palestinians and that Iran's nuclear program is for energy not weapons, the Iranian leader's comment on gays broke the tension.

But it spurred strong reaction too.

"This is a sick joke," said Scott Long of Human Rights Watch, saying Iran tortures gays under a penal code that punishes homosexuality between men with the death penalty."

Careful now there, Scott. This has been going on for centuries and you just NOW have something to say on the matter? There's a brave lad.

Now on to the distaff reply:

Nancy? Barbara? Hillary? Gloria? ANYONE?

Crickets

The Real World Responds To Achma The Wonder Midget

"Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s seemingly ridiculous claim that "we don’t have homosexuals, like in your country" masks the cruel reality that his government does far worse than ignore gays, human rights groups charge.

"There are criminal laws on the books in Iran that allows for people to be killed for being homosexual," said Paula Ettelbrick, executive director of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission.

Just how many gays may have been killed — some say the figure is more than 400 — is impossible to determine. But Ahmadinejad’s flip follow-up answer to the question posed to him Monday at Columbia University — "We do not have this phenomenon. I don’t know who has told you that we have" — suggests he won’t take the issue seriously."

SUGGESTS? Hows about PROVES?

Listen, I'm too old to welcome gays with open arms and since the single, simple, and incontrovertible meaning of life is to make copies of oneself in perpetuity, the very concept of homosexuality is anathema to the laws of nature. Do what you will in your own demesne and don't ask me to like it because if its truly PRIVATE I shouldn't even be hearing about it, but no one should be persecuted for wanting to shag his pal. Laughed at, yes, but persecuted, no.

And hanging and stoning are definitely out of the question. Tarred and feathered...gimme some more time to think on it.

Energetic Take On Little Mo's Stutter Step Into Civilization

by John Podhoretz

September 25, 2007 -- "A QUICK peek at the world through the eyes of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as he spoke at Columbia University's World Monsters - oh, sorry - World Leaders Forum:

* There are no homosexuals in Iran, and he would be very interested to know who told you there were.

Perhaps Ahmadinejad meant to say there were no homosexuals currently alive in Iran he knew about, since when his regime finds out about homosexuals, it has them beaten savagely with lashes before it has them hanged publicly in the town square.

* Families in Iran are 10 times happier to have daughters than they are to have sons, which is demonstrated by the fact that sons in Iran kiss the hands of their mothers.

This is a sign of the great respect shown women in Iran, he said, evidently because kissing one's mother on the cheek is not sufficiently obsequious. Ahmadinejad failed to mention that women in Iran are now being routinely beaten and jailed for wearing clothing deemed unacceptable by religious authorities.

* Only scientists who are morally "pure" can discover things that are of benefit to humanity.

This analysis would come as a surprise to most historians of science, whose biographies of great innovators are filled with examples of their questionable personal conduct.

* Ahmadinejad is an academic himself, and he loves to teach students.

Ah, yes, how nostalgic he is for his own years as a student - when, according to author Mark Bowden, he was among the unspeakable cohorts who held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days inside the American Embassy compound in Tehran.

* There is no nuclear-weapons program in Iran - you know, just like there was no Holocaust.

And speaking of the Holocaust or lack thereof, Iran is "friends with the Jewish people," who are treated just wonderfully by the Iranian regime and "many Jews live in peace and security" inside Iran.

Ahmadinejad evidently defines friendship a bit differently from most other people, since last year he asked whether Jews were even "human beings," and answered his own question by comparing them to livestock.

* He thinks he has a sense of humor. "Let me tell a joke here," he said. "The politicians who are after atomic bombs, politically, they are retarded."

I can only imagine that the mullahs were in stitches over that thigh-slapper.

* He whined about being subjected to uncivil treatment by Columbia President Lee Bollinger, who introduced his invited guest as, among other things, "petty and cruel," "astonishingly uneducated," and bereft of "intellectual courage." Bollinger concluded by expressing "revulsion at all you stand for."

Those sounded like astonishingly harsh words before Ahmadinejad spoke. After Ahmadinejad concluded his repugnant remarks more than an hour later, Bollinger's fantastically fiery denunciation seemed a little mild."

I'd like to take the time to personally thank the Iranian people for sending this clown to prance before the world's elite. His juggling needs some work, and lets face it, the hobo-look went out with Emmet Kelly so he'd be far better served with the old standby of big red nose and floppy shoes, but all in all it was funny as hell and thats what counts.

On The Lighter Side...'INDIANA' BLABBER FACES DOOM

September 25, 2007 -- "A BIG-mouthed extra working on the new "Indiana Jones" flick has blown his fledgling movie career to smithereens by spilling the film's major plot points.

Director Steven Spielberg and producer George Lucas made the entire cast and crew of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" sign nondisclosure agreements. But Tyler Nelson - cast as a "dancing Russian soldier" - gave an interview to his hometown newspaper, the Edmond Sun in Oklahoma, in which he revealed that:

* Indy, played once again by Harrison Ford, and the Soviet army are both searching for a priceless skull made of crystal in the jungles of South America.

* The Russians take Indy hostage and then blackmail him by threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and mother of his son, Marion Ravenwood, portrayed by Karen Allen. Cast as the son is Shia LaBeouf.

* Cate Blanchett plays an evil Russian who grills Indy. "I saw Harrison Ford strapped to a chair and being interrogated," Nelson told the paper.

Nelson's own big scene comes when he celebrates Indy's capture by dancing to balalaika folk music. But it's doubtful the footage of the 24-year-old actor - a professionally trained ballet dancer who studied at the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow - will make it into the final cut. Spielberg, furious Nelson blabbed, has reportedly snipped his scene.

Spielberg's spokesman, Marvin Levy, wouldn't say whether any of Nelson's spoilers are accurate, but noted: "Who knows whether that particular person will ever work in this town again?"

Reached by Page Six yesterday, Nelson told us, "No comment. I'm not supposed to talk about it." But his rep at the Thomas Talent Agency said, "He's in trouble. He's got to know that he can't do that."

Meanwhile, there have been behind-the-scenes machinations to get the story squashed. Nelson got the Edmond Sun to yank the story from its Web site, with an employee there telling us: "We removed it out of respect to a hometown boy." And plot-spoilers posted on Harry Knowles' influential Ain't It Cool News site also vanished. Knowles didn't return our call.

The movie, fourth in the "Indiana Jones" series, is set to hit theaters in May."

Can't face drek and death every day so sitting back and thinking what it would have been like to be a Hollyweird big shot and have little else to worry about than some extra spouting off about "SECRET MOVIE STUFF!!!" is fun.

Complete with B-Movie toss-ins such as "You'll never work in this town again!!!" and I'll admit that such a footloose and responsibility-free life would have been interesting. For a week or even longer.

PS: I used to read Ain't It Cool News on a regular basis until Harry Knowles became a studio shill and took all of the fun out of it.

Marines In Search of A Mission

by George Will

"When asked in 1997 to describe the kind of conflict for which Marines were training, Gen. Charles Krulak, then the Corps' commandant, replied with one word: "Chechnya." He meant ethnic and sectarian conflict in an urban context. He spoke of "the three-block war" in which a Marine wraps a child in a blanket, then is a buffer between warring factions, then engages in combat, all within three city blocks.

For Marines, however, fighting such a war for more than four years jeopardizes the skills essential to their core mission -- combat as an expeditionary force. Marines have not conducted a major amphibious landing since Inchon in Korea, but the Corps, which specializes in operational maneuver from the sea, remains, in theory, a force that penetrates, performs, then departs. Marines say: The nation needs the Army, Navy and Air Force, but it wants the Marine Corps as an expeditionary power, more than just a miniaturized Army.

Marines have an institutional memory of "small wars," from the Philippines to Central America, and this competence serves them well in Iraq, which is, an officer here says, "a thousand microcosms." But the exigencies of the protracted Iraq commitment have forced the Marines to adopt vehicles that are heavier and bigger than can easily travel with an expeditionary force on ships. And there is tension between the "nation-building" dimension of the Marines' Iraq mission and the Corps' distinctive warrior esprit, which is integral to why the nation wants the Corps.

Officers studying here at the Marine Corps University after tours in Iraq dutifully say they understand that they serve their combat mission -- destroying the enemy -- when they increase the host nation's capacity for governance. Besides, says one officer, when his units are helping with garbage collection, they know that "garbage collection is a matter of life and death because there are IEDs [improvised explosive devices] hidden under that garbage."

Still, no one becomes a Marine to collect garbage or otherwise nurture civil societies. And as one officer here notes with some asperity, there is "no Goldwater-Nichols Act for the rest of the government." That act required "jointness" -- collaborative operations -- by the services. Civilian agencies that do not play well together have fumbled the ball in Iraq, and the military has been forced to pick it up. This draws the military deeper into the sensitive responsibility for tutoring civilians who assign the forces nonmilitary tasks.

The political dimension of leadership training remains, however, secondary to instruction in military valor. The other services tend to teach leadership prescriptively, with rules. The Marines teach descriptively, with storytelling about what happened on the sea wall at Tarawa (1943), at Korea's Chosin Reservoir (1950), in Vietnam's Hue city (1968). But there is another story pertinent to providing military advice that can ensure civilian comprehension of military functions.

Early in the Kennedy administration, when there was talk about a U.S. invasion of Cuba, Gen. David M. Shoup, Marine commandant, gave President John Kennedy and his advisers a tutorial. David Halberstam wrote in "The Best and the Brightest":

"First he took an overlay of Cuba and placed it over the map of the United States. To everybody's surprise, Cuba was not a small island along the lines of, say, Long Island at best. It was about 800 miles long and seemed to stretch from New York to Chicago. Then he took another overlay, with a red dot, and placed it over the map of Cuba. 'What's that?' someone asked him. 'That, gentlemen, represents the size of the island of Tarawa,' said Shoup, who had won a Medal of Honor there, 'and it took us three days and 18,000 Marines to take it.' "

Because of the dispersed battlefield in Iraq, company commanders must make instantaneous decisions that battalion commanders used to make, and corporals are making decisions that officers used to make reflecting -- and affecting -- the Marine Corps' ethics and core values.

Still, "it's a beautiful thing being in Iraq," says one officer, "because you aren't worrying about Corporal Jones stateside getting a DUI." That is the durable voice of the Marine Corps, which is "first to fight," and is happier when doing so than when dealing with garrison duties stateside or chores properly belonging to civilian agencies abroad."

Our job is to break things. Quickly. Break things beyond repair then move ever forward while the Army moves in to pulverize beyond recognition. Give us any job that requires blood and guts but never one that includes having one hand tied. When the army broke and ran in Korea, it gave the Norks and Chinese the wrong attitude about American fighting men. They paid for that attitude after coming across the Marines. You gut it out because of the ghosts who follow you into the devils maw. The ones who charged when running was what any sane man would do. Vietnam nearly destroyed the Corps to its very core. We begged to be allowed to just end it all. Food, ammo and keep them coming. Thats all. We'll do the rest. Every beast has a heart and if we keep attacking we'll get to it sooner or later. Yes, you weep while crawling over the bodies of the fallen but it doesn't make you scared it makes you mad. We WANT to get mad. The more you hit us the madder we get until you believe that demons are throwing themselves into your guns and will continue to do so until they are stilled.

George Will is at his best when he sticks to retelling history, and stories such as this, as he's long since lost the mettle necessary to most times remember what all the fuss is about.

U.S.: Iran Smuggling Missiles and Other Advanced Weapons Into Iraq

BAGHDAD — "The U.S. military accused Iran on Sunday of smuggling surface-to-air missiles and other advanced weapons into Iraq for use against American troops.

Military spokesman Rear Adm. Mark Fox said U.S. troops were continuing to find Iranian-supplied weaponry including the Misagh 1, a portable surface-to-air missile that uses an infrared guidance system.

Other advanced Iranian weaponry found in Iraq includes the RPG-29 rocket-propelled grenade, 240 mm rockets and armor-piercing roadside bombs known as explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, Fox said."

Wow. The enemy is beginning to use modern weapons and certain of our military leaders are whining. Whining? I hate whining. It began with all the talk about IED's. Improvised Explosive Devices. Here's a clue for the clueless; ALL explosive devices are improvised unless there's a hand grenade tree I was unaware of. It was all well and good when we thought ourselves to be fighting 7th Century barbarians. Foes who'd sneak from a cave in the dead of night to do mischief then return to whatever haven they came. And we got sloppy. Slumbering snuggly in a warm cocoon of invincibility. Forgetting that modern armament was there for the taking if one had the resources to obtain them. Whoops...the enemy is fighting back? Our bad.

If Iranian arms, with the blessing of the Iranian government, are filtering into Iraq then deal with it. This is so bloody typical of the brass, to whinge aloud that all of their fantasmagorical plans are being ruined because the foe cheated and came at us on our terms. It bothers me that certain of the higher ups have decreed that it is OUR sole divine right to remain superior on the battlefield, so come at us with sticks and stones while we dial up our super dee duper computer driven guns of war and annihilate all comers without breaking a sweat. We were slow to change tactics and have replaced forward thinking with backward bitching and its starting to piss me off.

Clinton says she can appeal to GOP voters

WASHINGTON, 23 (UPI) -- "U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton said Sunday she can appeal to Republicans as well as Democrats on the presidential trail."

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Whew. Thanks babe. Needed that.

Iranian General: U.S. Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan Are Within Iran's Firing Range

"U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan are being monitored by Iran using satellites and other technology and are well within range of Iranian missiles, a top Iranian military official said.

"The Americans should realize that the 200,000 troops they have deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan are in Iran’s firing range,” Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, an advisor to Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said in remarks published by Iranian newspapers Monday."

Psst? Yeah you, top Iranian military official, got a sec?

Cool. Now, maybe you haven't noticed or maybe nobody told you, but ALL OF IRAN is within range of anything we damn well please to drop on you. And those military personnel? The ones "in-range"? They, you see, are SUPPOSED to be in range. Thats sort of what they do for a living, and I'm not making this stuff up.

Alleged Attack Against 13-Year-Old Virginia Boy Caught on Tape

"Police in Norfolk, Va., are investigating whether an alleged attack against a 13-year-old boy that witnesses caught on tape Saturday was racially motivated, WAVY-TV reported Monday.

The tape shows the victim, Damien O'Rourke, who is white, being violently beaten by a group of African American teenagers. According to the report, Damien and his mother, Reesha Price, said the fight was unprovoked and believe Damien was attacked because he is white.

Damien said he was attacked while going to meet friends to play football. Price told WAVY-TV that she found her badly beaten son just blocks from her home after receiving a phone call alerting her to the attack Saturday afternoon.

The family had just recently moved to the Norfolk area, WAVY-TV reported. Damien said one of his alleged attackers was among a group of students at his school that mistreated him because he was the new kid. Price told WAVY-TV that she now fears her son is being targeted because of his race.

Norfolk police reportedly told WAVY-TV that their gang unit will be investigating the case."

Ah yes, the GANG UNIT. In a way I'm glad they didn't think of some fancy schmancy name for the GANG UNIT, and RACKET SQUAD was already taken. The only way they'll pin this down as a racial attack is if the blacks involved up and admit to it, because we KNOW that hate crimes and the like simply CANNOT be perpetrated on whites.

"In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country" So Says Giggles The Wonder Midget

Ahmadinejad Speaks During Controversial Appearance at Columbia University

"Columbia President Lee Bollinger opened the program with a blistering introduction in which he lambasted Ahmadinejad for calling for the annihilation of Israel, denying the Holocaust and supporting the execution of children, and told the leader of Iran that he resembled "a petty and cruel dictator."

Bollinger levied repeated criticisms against Ahmadinejad, calling on him to answer a series of challenges about his leadership, blasting his views about the "myth" of the Holocaust as being "absurd," and saying that he doubted he "will have the intellectual courage to answer these questions."

"You are either brazenly provocative or astonishingly uneducated," Bollinger told Ahmadinejad about the leader's Holocaust denial. "Will you cease this outrage?"

After sitting through Bollinger's rebuke, Ahmadinejad rose to applause, and after a religious invocation, opened his remarks by objecting to the scolding, saying it was insulting to be spoken about that way.

"At the outset, I want to complain a bit about the person who read this political statement made against me," Ahmadinejad said. "In Iran, we don't think it's necessary to come in before the speech has already begun with a series of complaints ... It was an insult to information and the knowledge of the audience here."

Complain away you sad excuse for a camel pie. You cannot answer simple questions, have little fluency in your own native tongue, and for all intents and purpose resemble nothing so much as someone's retarded child that they half-dressed to take out into the big city.

Bad enough we had to bear witness to Hillary Rodham on De-Face The Nation, and Meet The Jurassic Press over the weekend as SHE tried to explain away HER criminal actions, but this dwarven maniac takes the cake. You sir are slovenly, unkempt, probably smell like last months camel stew, and are the sorriest excuse for a "President" as there has been since, what time is it now, oh lets say the 7th Century or thereabouts. You obviously do not have the wherewithals to SPELL sophistication let alone practice it, and it is with a sigh of relief that I welcome you to the greatest nation the world has ever seen.

If this trash is the best they've got, our enemies are doomed and I LIKE that.

You "don't have homosexuals in your country" and where are all the Gay Groups of THIS country and their protest signs? You behead, mutilate, hang, and rape women at your leisure, and where are all the Feminist Groups of THIS country?

HIDING. Cowards ALWAYS step & fetchit to the nearest sanctuary whenever the going gets tough, and know what? I like THAT too. I like the fact that our blowhard Gays and Feminazi's are all hot air and will not DARE to stand up to this monster in midget's clothing, because that means all is well with humanity.

The strong forever protect the weak so have no fear, gays and feminazi's, WE'LL be there to save you from the likes of this cretin and as soon as bad man go home you can crawl back out into the sunlight and rant about how brave and powerful you are once more.

When Two GLOCKS And A Ruger Constitute An Arsenal

Phil Mushnick is one of the good guys. A sports writer who pulls no punches in decrying the sorry state of affairs in today's crass ESPN-ization of our beloved pastimes. Where foul mouths, moods, and behaviors are rewarded in order to gather in the coveted young male viewers. Yes, Phil calls a spade a spade but even he hates them nasty guns...

"CBS pre-gamer Shannon Sharpe yesterday addressed the Cowboys’ signing of Tank Johnson despite his, “questionable behavior.” Hmmm. Sharpe didn’t bother with any of the questions behind Johnson’s “questionable behavior,” including, “What’s that assault arsenal doing in his home?” and, 'Do his parole conditions allow him to cross state lines for road games?'"

Now there's no denying the fact that Johnson is a certified numskull...even when he wasn't "illegally" packing he was telling police that "You ain't the only one with a Glock. If it wasn't for your gun and your badge, I'd kick your ass.", but several handguns does not constitute an arsenal. Everyone knows that you do not go anywhere near Chicago with a firearm, but he did, and paid the legal price for it.

Time we faced facts, or time I faced facts because there's two types of people, those who hate firearms and those that enjoy them and the former get a helluva lot more good press than the latter.

Gun owner receives apology from police chief

"Trevor Putnam knew the gun laws. The officer who stopped him didn’t.

“When I told him that I hadn’t done anything, he said he’d find a reason to put me in jail,” said Putnam, 24, who works with guns every day as vice president of Coal Creek Armory in West Knoxville.

“It’s not that I have a problem with police officers. I deal with police officers nationwide from Arizona to Maine every day. But I lost my confidence in a legal right that I knew I had.”

Knoxville police officers will get a refresher course on the state’s gun permit laws after an officer who didn’t know the law stopped, frisked and threatened to arrest Putnam for legally carrying a gun inside a Wal-Mart this summer.

Officer Glenn Todd Greene’s actions June 21 at the store on Walbrook Drive in West Knoxville earned him a written reprimand and remedial training for rudeness and not knowing the law, Internal Affairs records show. He’s worked for the Knoxville Police Department for about seven years.

Putnam got a written apology from Police Chief Sterling P. Owen IV.

“The officer was wrong I want to personally apologize to you for any embarrassment or inconvenience you may have suffered as a result of this incident,” the chief wrote.

“The Knoxville Police Department takes pride in the training offered to its officers, and the training provided far exceeds state requirements. Unfortunately, officers aren’t perfect, and sometimes mistakes are made. As you can see from the remedial measures taken, we want to learn from our mistakes so they won’t be repeated in the future.”

The trouble started when Putnam and his girlfriend, Samantha Williams, stopped at the store to buy groceries around 10 p.m. Putnam, who holds a gun permit, carried his Colt handgun inside with him, holstered on his right hip.

“It’s like a seat belt or a fire extinguisher,” he said. “It goes everywhere with me. It was warm that night, so I left my jacket in the car.”

State law allows gun permit holders to carry their guns openly or concealed. Putnam said he usually tucks his shirt over the gun but forgot to that night.

As they walked out, Greene, who’d gone to the store to investigate a shoplifting call, told Putnam to stop. Greene asked for Putnam’s identification, grabbed his arm when he reached for his wallet and then asked why he carried a gun in public, records show.

Putnam ended up against a concrete wall being frisked as Greene took his gun.

“It’s called a concealed carry permit. State law says you carry it concealed, not in plain view (with the) hammer back,” Greene said. “I’ve been doing this for 12 years. I can put you in jail for something. It’s called inducing a panic.”

And there you have it. A member of law enforcement admitting that the sight of a gun caused him to panic. Click the headline for the full deal, but suffice to say that the cop was not only wrong, but assaulted the young man, and for you or I to have done the same thing means criminal charges would soon follow. And while the mea culpa offered by the Chief was a nice touch, he's obviously too dimwitted to realize that bragging about the high level of training in the same breath as apologizing for the lack of training isn't the wisest of moves. This officer was so very wrong in so very many ways it boggles the mind to think that there police are so poorly tutored, but it STILL gets down to them believing themselves to be ABOVE us on the food chain, and this sends them into an absolutely terror-stricken frame of mind upon seeing a gun and that can be VERY dangerous.

Have a look at poor little Trevor; just a kid and Mr. Only One figured he'd roust him merely for the sake of a good roust.

Ron Paul: Highways claim more than 9/11 killed

"Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul contends that the federal government has overreacted by limiting personal freedom in the wake of terrorist attacks six years ago, noting more people die on U.S. highways in less than a month’s time compared to the number who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

“We have been told that we have to give up our freedoms in order to be safe because terrorism is such a horrible event,” Paul said today to more than 1,000 supporters who attended a rally at a downtown Chicago hotel ballroom.

“A lot fewer lives died on 9/11 than they do in less than a month on our highways, but once again, who owns the highways? Do we own the highways? No. It’s a government institution you know. …We need to put all this in perspective.”

Ah, okay. How's this for starters then:

The attack on the WTC was committed by moslem extremists who have vowed to destroy America, killing as many Americans as possible.

Traffic fatalities are the result of ACCIDENTS. Accidents, you see, Ron, are hard to prevent because, well, they are ACCIDENTS, not planned, and with no malice aforethought. Go take your meds, have a lil nappy, and I'm sure everything will be quite clear when you awaken.

N.Y. Drops Citizenship Proof For Driver's Licenses

(CBS) NEW YORK "They were celebrating outside the governor's office Friday as Eliot Spitzer handed a landmark victory to a half-million illegal immigrants.

The state will no longer require proof of citizenship for driver's licenses.

"We're changing our policy with respect to getting more people out of shadows and into the system so people don't hide they're here," Spitzer said.

He said the current restrictions on non-citizens have filled the roads with unlicensed drivers five times more likely to get into accidents.

But the also called it a matter of justice.

"As long as I'm governor we won't pretend they don't exist, cut them off from society," Spitzer said.

But the action triggered a bitter response from some 9/11 family members, who said the governor would be providing identification for potential terrorists.

And a Brooklyn state senator says he'll try to overturn the decision.

"This governor has chosen to give the keys to the city, the keys to the state to terrorism," Golden said.

As for the public, it's clear that people have strong feelings on both sides of the issue.

"I don’t think if you're here illegally you should have the same privileges people who are here legally do," office manager Cliff Hoffman said.

Added legal word processor Bill Slater: "I think illegal people are getting a free ride. I don't think it's fair to other hard-working citizens who do work hard."

Planning consultant John Madden said the move is also a pre-emptive strike against another type of potentially hazardous driver.

"The problem is they're gonna drive anyway," Madden said. "You might as well make them legal drivers with insurance."

The new rules will start to kick in at the end of the year, unless someone finds a way to put a halt to them.

Under the new policy, the Department of Motor Vehicles will accept foreign passports and birth certificates from immigrants as proof of identification. They will no longer need to provide a Social Security card."

They're going to anyway....Nothing we can do to stop...Might as well face facts....

Surrender is surrender no matter WHAT name or catch-phrase it hides behind. One of the major impediments to illegals finding and keeping work is their ability to own a car. Legally. Showing up at a motor vehicle station and declaring your criminality SHOULD be a one-way ticket to either jail or deportation, but good old Eliot doesn't want that because MOST illegals in NYC have relatives or close friends who vote. Thats all it really boils down to, playing politics with our sovereignty and way of life.
