Radar, Speeding, And Road-going Tax Collection...

I've been looking at radar detectors. In 40 years of driving I've been issued one summons for speeding; 1973, for doing 61 in a 55.

Since that very day, I've used radar detectors and not been caught unawares again. The first one was a Radio Shack special, plenty of false alarms but it did the job. My old Escort Solo is giving up the ghost, but I've grown so accustomed to it and it's foibles I hesitate to learn a new device. But I refuse to be a victim to those who "Protect and Collect".

The internet sites devoted to this technology are varied and many, so it's better than the bad old days when one laid out the hard earned cash then took one's chances. As is the case with most things in life, being AWARE is as important as being WARNED, so its not like I need to spend several hundreds of dollars for the latest and the greatest. Just something with a minimum of false alarms and a decent range is all I ask.

If anyone has been using a system and is happy with it I'd appreciate the heads up.
