Homeowner Not Charged In Fatal Shooting

A homeowner who shot and killed an alleged attacker early Monday morning is unlikely to face charges, Jackson police said. The man arrived at his home on Rosehaven Drive at about 1 a.m., police said, and two men with weapons ran at him.

Detective Eric Smith said the homeowner got a gun and opened fire.

"The homeowner, of course, fired multiple shots, striking one of the subjects, and the subject later died on the corner," Smith said.

Kenneth Stewman, 20, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest."

"Suffered" seems apropos. Offering a toast to the alert homeowner who refused to become a victim, and here's hoping such tales of self-defense continue until all criminals are dead or incarcerated.
