Man stabbed outside nightclub in NYC

A fight inside a trendy Chelsea club early Saturday exploded into a wild street brawl that ended with a man being stabbed and a bouncer turning a fire extinguisher on the crowd, police and witnesses said.

The fracas at Fusion 215 on W. 28th St. erupted shortly before the hip-hop nightspot was set to close at 4 a.m. when one reveler snatched another man's chain, police said.

Mayor Bloomberg's office responded swiftly, calling for other cities and states to join NY in a ban against fire extinguishers.

"We've gathered many cities together to protest pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, edged weapons, bats and brickbats," Deputy Mayor Doctorov told reporters, "and the Mayor feels it is past time to include other weapons and/or potential weapons to the list. My office is beginning a new ad campaign that will include the slogan "If it makes a bruise its yours to lose", because we simply must get the word out that anything that leaves a mark will not be tolerated in NYC."
