To Slide Lock And Beyond

Recycling Employees Gun Down Would-Be Robber

"Two employees of a local recycling center shot and killed a would-be robber Thursday morning, police said.

The unidentified workers fatally shot a man in the face as he tried to steal from Geppert Recycling, located on the 4500 block of Wayne Avenue in Philadelphia, just after 9 a.m., police said.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the gunman fired first but he was shooting at two employees who carry guns for protection.

Those two men fired back, killing the assailant.Their boss, David Geppert, said it is a dangerous area, and he's been robbed and shot himself.

"It's a bad thing the gentleman was killed, but I'm glad none of my employees were injured. And it will send the word out to other robbers not to bother us," Geppert said.

Authorities said it's unlikely any charges will be filed against the men who shot him."

Now, if I owned a gunshop in that neck of the woods I'd be taking contributions to endow these fine citizens with free ammo for life.

Yeah I know, a gun store acting like it gave a damn about anything but profits but hey, betcha they're out there and we just never hear of 'em.
