The original Magnificent Seven remains the best acted western, bar none. Were it not for The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, there would be no #2 best western of all time, just Seven and all the rest.
Yes, High Noon for its day was interesting but the acting was horrific. Virtually no cinematography to speak of, poorly developed secondary characters, and a "hero" who looked washed up and tired from the get-go.
