Football

Florida goes to Tennessee and The Giants travel to Philly.

Oy.

The Gators really shouldn't have much problem with the Vols, as evidenced by how close Air Force came to beating Tennessee last Saturday. Florida has the better team, but still an assortment of young men who are so very coddled that being away from home cooking for a few days makes them weepy, so we'll see what we shall see. Florida get's it's act together and learns how to play hardnosed football and they run and throw all day long in crushing the Vols quite soundly. If not, or if it's even close then Gator fans can kiss atheir national championship dreams goodbye. Not that Floirda stands a chance of winning such a title, but with a convincing win can vault into the top 4 of the NCAA elite.

And if ever a pro team mirrored a college one, it's the NY Giants. Eli Manning has got to take his talent by the horns and unleash it against Philadelphia, or the Giants are done for the season, plain and simple. 0-2 wouldn't be the end of the world for grownups, but for fragile adolescent egos it'd be a deathknell. Philly fans will be their most obnoxious selves and the Eagles are a flat-out good team so the Giants need to bring the A-Game or it'll be a long season of looking back, and could'a-should'a-would'a's. One has to wonder about a team with a happy-feet young quarterback and anyone named Jeremy Shockey as a star. Neither have shown the maturity necessary to overcome adversity and this Sunday begins seperating the men from the excuse-makers.

In a perfect world Florida trounces the Volunteers 37-17, and NY punishes the Eagles 27-21. In the one we happen to live in, it'll be difficult for both teams to escape the weekend with a win.

The Jets? Don't be silly now. The Patriots don't run roughshod over NY but without a running game they get to key on Pennington so it's good night, Irene and N.E. wins a low scoring game.
