SHOT Show News

Glock HAS introduced a slimmer .45 ACP, calling it the Glock 21 SF. This will somewhat calm the clamor for a thinner grip and I find it somewhat hilarious that Clinton Smith...while severely dissing the GAP but of course...just got done kissing Springfield's netherlands in the latest edition of American Handgunner, as he bragged on and on about their XD-45.

Yes, the XD-45 fits smaller hands well. Not as well as a pistol chambered for the GAP cartridge, but since Glock doesn't advertise nearly as much as Springfield, Smith got the okay to poke fun at the GAP, but the joke is on him. Can't believe that he and his ilk DIDN'T know about the G-21SF, as it is Glocks direct assault on the XD-45. Then again, it'll be many months, if ever, when American Free Advertisements For Gunmakers has a look at the new Glock, and all thoughts of Smitty ragging on the GAP will be long forgotten as they beg Austria for cash.

That aside, this is sort of what Glock fans who crave an ACP round have been asking for. Fans with small hands, at least. As I've said many a time, the present G-21 fits my hand as if it were made specifically FOR it, so I've no NEED for a slimmer pistol. But since need and want are oft times disparate, that doesn't mean I won't be getting one as soon as they arrive.

If it fits you as well, then why go for a knockoff when you can now have the real thing. Oh that's right. I forgot about the SAFETIES. I take it back. If you're clumsy then by all means go XD.

And the Picatinny rail is an option. You can get it or the standard rail. And an ambidextrous magazine release. Hey, LEFTIES shoot too, ya know.
