To Slide Lock And Beyond

This link will take you to a picture of a robber who was shot 33 times by several Glock 19's. Interspersed with the 9 mm holes are buck shot patterns as well, and before you ask I triple checked and as far as can be determined the pic and discription is for real.

That aside, many law enforcement officers are taught to shoot until the threat is over. In the case of a drugged or determined (or both) thug, this can mean multiple hits and guess what...

How many rounds does it take? As many as it takes.

This nonsense of ganging up on the cops because neighborhood preachers are irate over the amount of lead some scumdog caught is just that. Nonsense. I'm not suggesting that there aren't trigger happy cops, or bad shoots, but the general public believes in fairy tales and dropping Matty Methhead with a single round and some harsh words is one of them. There are many documented cases where the bad guy simply threw down a weapon then begged the police to stop shooting him because it was really really starting to hurt, but a populace whose only familiarity with armed men doing violence comes from watching "24" thinks otherwise, believing pistols to be handcannons that can knock a full grown man into another area code and beyond.

A great many large police departments shy away from anything bigger than a 9 mm because of the recoil-sensitive officers, cough, little girls, cough, and remain at a loss to provide our men and women on the street with effective weapons. The day of the bad ass trooper with his 357 magnum is long gone, and in liberal-run towns and cities it wouldn't matter if Matt Dillion was cloned and given the keys to every squad car on the force.

He'd still be packing a peashooter.
