The Curious Case Of Mr. Fish...
"Gov. Janet Napolitano vetoed a bill this afternoon that would have given a new trial to Harold Fish, who was convicted of murder after shooting a man on a hiking trail.
It was the first bill Napolitano vetoed this legislative session, as well as her first action on any bill in 2007. The Democrat has vetoed more bills than any other Arizona governor.
The self-defense bill would have clarified that a law passed in 2006 was retroactive and would have given Fish a new trial. The 2006 bill made it easier for defendants to argue self-defense in court.
Napolitano said prosecutors told her that the bill would have opened up unintended cases and not just Fish's case.
If it had been passed, "too many cases that have proceeded through our overburdened criminal justice system need to be resolved again, thereby reopening wounds for the victims of those crimes and delaying other cases awaiting trial."
Well damn your eyes you silly witch. So that's what justice has become? An in and out process designed so as not to overburden your antiquated legal system?
Harold Fish, a 59 year-old retired teacher who'd never before received as much as a parking ticket, was hiking when beset upon by two large dogs. He presented his handgun and fired warning shots to dissaude them from eating him. The owner then charged at Fish whereby Fish cranked a 10mm into his homeless ass.
The prosecutor beat it into the jury that anyone carrying so powerful a weapon was just itching to use it, and the eloi weepily returned a guilty verdict and sent him off to serve 10 years at hard labor. Fish had a horrid lawyer (if there are other kinds please inform) who knew nothing about firearms, even less about being an attorney, and 2nd Amendment lovers the country-over rushed to his defense, but too late.
Yes, in all likelihood Mr. Fish will be released after serving the minimum, but this was Janet's chance to right a ridiculous wrong and she spit the bit.
Some are spitters, some are swallowers. Dumbocrap Napolitano will only chug it for the treehuggers, and Arizona should be ashamed for letting this woman even get close to the Governors mansion without a visitor's pass.
