Florida A Win Away From 3rd SEC Championsip

ATLANTA (AP) - Florida is one win away from a three-peat at the Southeastern Conference tournament.

Corey Brewer scored 22 points, Lee Humphrey added 17 and the sixth-ranked Gators put on another dominating display to beat Mississippi 80-59 in the SEC semifinals Saturday.

Defending national champion Florida (28-5) jumped out to a quick 11-point lead and was never seriously challenged by the Rebels (20-12), who might have cost themselves a chance to slip into the NCAA field.

Florida has won its first two games in the tournament by an average of 19 points to reach its fourth straight SEC final. The Gators won the last two championships and have a chance to be the first team since Kentucky in 1997-99 to win three straight tournament titles."

Florida gets Arkansas next, and thats yet another done deal so the Gators take home their 3rd SEC in a row. Arkansas probably still makes it to the NCAA hoop-fest, but please now, they lost to Florida when the Gators where beset by nagging injury problems, and since then these particular disadvantaged youths in Gainesville have had their collective asses kicked by both the coaching staff and the town, and they're ready to play.

Okay, they didn't finish the regular season 27-4 like I thought back in January, but 26-5 was close enough and the boys "seem" ready to turn it back up a notch. They were mired in cruise control but do look a lot better the past few days.
