Americans resist political attempts to disarm citizenry in face of terrorist threat, says gun law expert

“Although gun grabbing politicians have been using various subterfuges to bring about a partial or total disarmament of the American citizenry, the data indicates that the United States is gun country and that our citizens are aware of and resist these attacks on our basic freedoms and traditions,” gun rights expert John M. Snyder said here today.

He noted that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey now are trying to use the threat of terrorism as a wedge with which to promote additional restrictive gun control legislation.

“However,” he noted, “Americans realize that, in the final analysis, it well could be their right and ability to acquire firearms that will enable them to protect their lives, the lives of their loved ones, and their property from these same terrorists. The American people are smart and will not fall for the phony arguments of the gun grabbers.”

Snyder pointed out that the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva based Graduate Institute of International Studies revealed that there are nine firearms for every 10 citizens in the United States and that “this means our American society is the most heavily armed in the world. American citizens possess 270 million of the 875 million firearms known to those conducting the survey. Our people purchase 4.5 million of the eight million new guns manufactured each year. That’s more than half.”

Snyder noted that public opinion surveys underscore the fact that Americans want to remain the most heavily armed society in the world. “A Zogby International poll just last month indicated that two-thirds of the American voting public rejects the notion that new gun control laws are needed. When the Express, a freely-distributed newspaper published by The Washington Post, asked respondents in an Internet poll if college students who have state issued permits to carry concealed handguns be allowed to carry firearms on campus, 85 percent said yes and only 15 percent said no.”

Snyder said that Bloomberg and Lautenberg and other anti-gun politicians like Sens. Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton of New York really are acting against the genuine interests of the American people in promoting their domestic disarmament policies. “When push comes to shove,” he said, “our ability to defeat terrorists at home well may depend on our access to personal firearms and on our ability and willingness to use them in our own defense and in the defense of our loved ones.”

WE are NOT the Brits. Or the French, or the Italians, or anything remotely resembling Euro-Sheeple. What the Schumers and Clintons and Bloombergs will never understand is the simple fact that we refuse to let the servants run the show...like in the Europe they so adore...and will never allow them to trash the Constitution at will. Unlike law enforcement for example, some of us took seriously that oath to defend America, its laws, and way of life.
