Manufactured in Great Britain, the AE versions are the civilian-line/cash-strapped LE Agency "cheapies" for folks who just have to say that they own a sniper rifle. Favored by law enforcement because of their reasonable degree of ruggedness, Accuracy International rifles will bench-out at less than a half inch at 100 yards with the right ammo, and at 13 and a quarter lbs. are obviously nothing more than plinkers for retired bachelors who like the evil black looks.
In comparison, there's the Ed Brown Sniper that will shoot just as well for a thousand dollars less and weigh in at 3 lbs. lighter, but there are plenty of good rifles available that can also be used for hunting, so put the A.I. AE in the Want-It category. There's nothing wrong with that if you can afford it and don't mind paying over 3 grand for something that isn't worth it. It's a firearm and there's no accounting for sanity or taste, as I'm sure we all have our favorites.
