A .25 acp versus a .223, as taken from Steve's site. Seems like it'd be no contest, but look at the water-jug results. 3 more inches of penetration and three-quarters of an inch more expansion from the .25.
Why?
The .223 round hits the water with so much velocity it tears itself to pieces. Water is usually the toughest test to subject ammunitions to, and while a Fackler Box would be better with regards to simulating ballistic gelatin, the jugs are good enough to make a point.
So, to paraphrase a fat old guy, what did we learn today?
We've learned that numbers by themselves are meaningless without an explanation. We've learned that if you can't explain what you've just seen, then you should leave it up to those that can, and cease and desist the proliferation of bad scoop.
