We Get Letters...

"Would you ever consider carrying a single action revolver? Have you ever known anyone that did?"

Not personally, but from what I hear Bill Hickock was a fair hand with one.

A single-action-sixgun is something only a very capable individual should consider as a primary carry weapon. A .357, .41 magnum or .45 Colt(as pictured here in the Ruger New Model Blackhawk) in expert hands would not be something I'd wish to go up against. One on one, or two on one, there isn't a finer, more accurate way to send bullets downfield, even though reloading is hellishly slow, but for a truck or counter or bedside gun, why not. A ranch gun too, but let's face it, today's average gunslinger is inaccurate and not getting better anytime soon. Can't teach what the good Lord left out, so my advice to 99.9% of all who would arm themselves for concealed carry is to find a good double-action Smith or Ruger if doing the wheely is what yanks the crank, or any number of bottomfeeders in .40 cal or above.

Drawing, presenting, aiming, and shooting a single action when one's life is on the line is dicey at best.
