Wheelchair-bound NYC woman shoots mugger...

In NYC. And won't be charged.

NEW YORK (AP) -- "Margaret Johnson might have looked like an easy target.

But when a mugger tried to grab a chain off her neck Friday, the wheelchair-bound 56-year-old pulled out her licensed .357 pistol and shot him, police said.

Johnson said she was in Harlem on her way to a shooting range when the man, identified by police as 45-year-old Deron Johnson, came up from behind and went for the chain.

"There's not much to it," she said in a brief interview. "Somebody tried to mug me, and I shot him."

You. Go. Girl. Okay, so she only winged the guy and he's doing swell but his ego may never be the same. She's black, he's black, and my stooges say that her permit was for range use only, but it's obvious that no local DA wants any part of taking her down. This is something you WON'T be seeing Mayor Bloomberg squawking about either, as it's a win-win, guns are good tale of survival, the kind he hates with a passion. And I won't rag on the Daily Snooze writers calling a .357 mag a pistol, nor point out that she had it loaded with fmj's and that's part of the reason it punched a hole clean through Mr. Mugger's arm and didn't rip it clean off at the elbow.

UPDATISHNESS: Today's Daily Snooze is regaling the old gal as a heroine. If I did it, this would be posted from Rikers Island Maximum Security.
