Why, when an ONLY ONE is caught doing it, that's when.
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (AP) - "A Federal Way police officer, based at Federal Way High School was charged today with communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
Terry Wilson was charged with two gross misdemeanors in Federal Way Municipal Court. he was also charged with assault.
Court papers say a 17-year-old female student says Wilson touched her sexually and made sexual comments to her at Federal Way High School on June 1. Wilson was working as a school resource officer at the high school. He was placed on administrative leave June 7.
The case was investigated by the Renton Police Department and reviewed by the King County Prosecuting Attorney's office. When it was determined the case didn't warrant felony charges, it was referred to municipal court. Auburn prosecutor Dan Heid reviewed the case and charges were filed today."
Misdemeanor charge means he gets to keep and bear arms after the conviction. This is something all cops strive for when confronted with felony charges, and if one has a good enough lawyer and enough pals on the force then he's good to go.
Back when Gabe Suarez was caught stealing from the town he worked for...the wife was charged and tried as well...he copped a plea for a slew of misdemeanors because he knew damn well there wasn't a snowballs chance in hell of his ever becoming a police officer again, but could parlay his "experiences" into opening training centers for those who didn't mind that his "officer-involved-shootings" were nothing more than putting down the stray dog or two, because damned if he wasn't uber-tactical while doing so. Couldn't do so if the felony charges stuck, couldn't EVER own a gun again let alone charge megabucks for playing cops and robbers.
It's their MO. Get caught, cop to as many misdemeanors as the prosecutor's little heart desires, serve even MORE time in the can if necessary, but never, ever do time for a felony.
MUCH harder to sell books that way.
