"Concern over a mass slaying by a 20-year-old part-time sheriff's deputy has western Wisconsin authorities scrambling to set tougher psychological standards for law officers trusted with firearms for public defense.
"We've got the right to take somebody's life and we need these people on their toes," said Nancy Hove, who's sheriff in Pierce County, just across the St. Croix River from Minnesota. "I don't need someone out there who's not functioning on all cylinders, so to speak."
All this proves is that one doesn't need to be male to huff and puff and make a total asshat of oneself. If this glorified night-watchwoman actually BELIEVES that pinning on a badge gives her the RIGHT to kill people then law enforcement in general and the Twin Cities in particular is farther off the deep end than ever I imagined.
