We Get Letters

"...With all every one is always saying about hollowpoint bullets don't you ever worry about how the police will think..."

Here's the deal. Listening to ANYONE other than an attorney is worth what you pay for it. Get out the phonebook and look up lawyers. Explain to whomever answers that you are a gun owner who is interested in retaining an attorney. If they don't want such business they'll say so and I promise they won't bite so make the call. Placing a knowledgeable lawyer on retainer is worth the few bucks. He or she will know all of the local ins and outs; what sort of prosecutor is in office, whether they are interested in enforcing the law or making a name for themselves, etc. Get a business card and laminate it. Better yet, get two or three and put them in your wallets and sock drawers. Sometimes just asking to contact an attorney gets the local locals paying attention, but whatever you do...and if the lawyer says otherwise then thats fine too...do NOT offer up any information regarding the reason you've been detained by the police. If there's been a shooting your lawyer will tell you precisely how to respond to the questions from law enforcement.

The bottom line is STOP GUESSING. Stop asking questions on gun boards and blogs. Go straight to the horses mouth, in this case ass, and get legal representation AND answers.

Generally speaking, a good shoot is a good shoot, but liberal cities and states don't pay much attention to the Constitution and very well MAY be concerned about someone using modern ammunitions. Some gun scribes such as Massad Ayoob sell ammunition for a living and write about it for a living and would have you believe they know what the district attorney and police chief in your home town has to say on the matter but they do not.

Lawyer up.
