Twice Awry
So what what do you think?
Say again sir?
About the bunker we're after.
Combat engineers could handle it, but I'd soften the target with busters.
We don't have available one bomb that can do the job, though, do we?
No sir. That's why we always make more than one.
Saturation?
Sure, why not? Not a bunker built that'll withstand 4 or 5 of our best.
So you'd hold off on the engineers then?
Well, we'd need to support them of course and stand the chance of losing them and the support or taking heavy casualties.
But if we use the bunker busters then ya know what that does?
What sir?
It tells the enemy what we have and how we think.
Ah, yes sir it does, but by the time someone comes around to making better bunkers we'll have already made better busters. And as far as telling them how we think, all due respect but that's how every military force has always thought.
Precisely! And that's why I'm tossing in my vote to send in the engineers. Always keep 'em guessing. The casualties might be excessive but under the circumstances, acceptable.

The Israelis have sent combat engineers ahead of the main thrust. This triggered a memory. There ARE more than one ways to skin a cat, but shooting a lion in the ass is far better than kicking him in the teeth.
