BCS In Progress

Both teams looked itchy, but Florida recovered from the kickoff touchdown and has marched at will against Ohio's defense to a 14-7 lead.

Still 1st Quarter and Ohio State is awaiting the kickoff. The most vaunted offense in college looked terrible during their first possession so lets see.

Second quarter and Ohio State, via a terrible kick and a roughing the passer penalty by Florida, gets good field position and closes the score to 21-14.

One of the agonys of college football is watching mistake after mistake, but for this game at least I'm endeavoring to persevere.

It looks like a shootout, and just as I think that, they'll probably get rid of the butterflies and start playing solid football.

Still 21-14 with Florida driving. It appears that Ohio State is settling down, and if so, they ARE the most talented team on the field and certainly have more than enough time to salvage a win.

Meyers is playing slithgly more conservatively, and this is giving the Ohio defense more time to recognize the plays and while coaches do tend to resort to keeping it simple when ahead, it isn't a good idea versus a better team.

More as it happens. Time now: 9:39 EST

10:00 PM. Ohio State goes for it on 4th and 1, and can't make the 1st down. Someone is tired and it ain't just me.

HALFTIME

And Blogger is due to shut down soon. Say la vee.

Florida 34-Ohio State 14

Sloppy, sloppy football on Ohio's part, and opportunistic Florida has at least proved that they certainly belong on the same field as the Ballyhooed Buckeyes.

If the Gators win, Gainesville is going to explode. Literally. And of course, your on-site reporter will be giving you breaking news. Oh wait. Blogger won't be working.

Final Score 41-14, so WTF happened?

Yes Virginia, what they say about SEC teams being FAST is true. Not that the Buckeyes were all that slow, but who'd they play, or even practice against that was anywhere NEAR as fleet as Florida? Give a group of speedy guys a month long rest to recover from the nicks and injuries of a brutal season, and while the execution wasn't as crisp at times as I'd have liked, the team speed was awesome.

And not for nothing, but all season long I've been offering the schedule disparity, and it's obvious that were the two teams to have switched scheds Ohio State would have had at least one loss going into the game and Florida would have been the overwhelming favorite.

Did I mention that the SEC is fast?
