Man dies after cops shoot him with Taser

"A troubled 38-year-old man who was off his medication died of a heart attack last night after cops shot him with Mace and a Taser gun during a scuffle at a Queens home, officials said..."

Police Taser's...and there's a world of difference between them and the cheapie civilian knockoffs...are designed for one purpose and one purpose only. To freeze an individual so as to facilitate handcuffing. If and when both electrodes hit, the average person will freeze like a block of wood, and 99 out of 100 times fall to the ground, incapable of offering reistance.

For about 5 to 10 seconds. During this time, law enforcement slaps on the cuffs, but guess what. If it's fumble time at the OK Corral and the zapped person recovers too quickly, out comes the mace until the Taser can be reconfigured, or out comes another Taser to try it again from the top.

This is why Tasering is useless for civilians. That's unless you also carry around some sort of quickly-applied restraint system, but before it gets kinky forget using a stun gun or Taser for self-defense. I've seen a man bound back up after taking the juice and be more angered than before he did the jolty-jig, so leave these devices to law enforcement. They can kill you while restraining you and it's no harm, no foul.
