At Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport, officials want stiffer penalties for cab drivers who refuse service to passengers with alcohol or seeing-eye dogs.
Muslim immigrant drivers complain that doing so would violate their faith. Hassan Mohamud, imam at the Al-Taqwa Mosque of St. Paul, explained: "Muslims do not consume, carry, sell or buy alcohol, and Islam also considers the saliva of dogs to be unclean."
Memo to Mr. Mohamud: Welcome to America, a country founded on religious freedom - absent the right to force that freedom on others.
Memo to the cabbies: If the above is unacceptable, find another job - or another country."
Never thought I'd yearn for the good old days back when no hablo was the sum of the conversation between oneself and a hack. Sure, the fuzzy dice and bobble-head burro's were everywhere, but the cabs didn't reek and the drivers knew where they were going. Is there anything the sand fleas won't frig to hell?
