"Situation: Two terrorists attempt to assassinate the President of the United States in the boldest attempt at home invasion in modern history.
Lesson: Training and equipment have to be job related. It's men, not guns, who win gunfights. Defenders accustomed to shooting under pressure in matches, shoot better under pressure in real life."
On November 1, 1950, two Puerto Rican Nationalists got close enough to Harry Truman, that had it not been for the superhuman effort of a dying policeman, the President of The United States might very well have died that day. Massad Ayoob is terribly wrong when he says that guns do not win gunfights, and goes on to contradict himself in the description of the poor training with underpowered weapons used by the men in charge of protecting Truman.
Ayoob is a sometimes average, most times preachy, scribbler who does not deserve the title of "writer", but since a great deal of the above tale is taken from other sources it is an engaging read.
The right tools get the job done right. Please read.
