Yanks just completed a doubleheader sweep of Boston, at Boston.
Abreau played both games. 6 for 9 with 3 walks. On base 9 times in 12 plate appearances.
Since joining the Yanks he is batting .400, with an on base percentage of .450.
Not a bad 3 hole hitter.
Damon's batting .290, Jeter .340, and by the time a pitcher gets through the two of them, PLUS Abreu, he's likely to have thrown 22 pitches. And shown pretty much everything he's got, as obviously none of the above are easy outs.
And Sheffield and Matsui are due back in a couple weeks? Just in time to get into 30 or so games to sharpen their stroke. That makes Posada at .270 the "weakest" bat in the lineup.
Good lord but if they get anything resembling decent pitching this is an hard team to beat.
