Beretta CX4 Storm in .45 ACP

"BerettaUSA Cx4 Storm Semi-automatic Carbine Rifle, model JX48520. 45ACP caliber. 16.6-inch barrel length. Blued finish. Synthetic polymer stock. 8-round capacity. $695.00

Designed to meet the needs of law enforcement, the new CX4 Storm is also excellent for sport and home defense. The fixed barrel design and long sight radius (12.9) make this gun inherently accurate. The 5 3/4 pounds and overall length of 29.7" make this Carbine light and compact."

This .45 caliber carbine would be in my safe but for two reasons. The 8 round magazine is a joke, but perhaps aftermarketers or Beretta itself will crank out some full-caps. And tell me why a particular group of men that can call on unlimited support and resources needs this weapon more than the lone citizen does and I'll try to forgive the fawning "designed for law enforcement" moniker, but it won't be easy.

I absolutely promise to do a side-by-side test of this weapon versus the new Hi-Point .45 carbine as soon as Hi-Point gets off its lazy butt and starts making what they've been promising for years now. I have no doubt that a local range will soon get one of the Beretta's...and offer to set me up with one for around a grand out the door of course... so half the battle is soon to be won, but it'll be interesting to see if...all things being equal and not over the long haul...the CX4 is worth 3 Hi-Points.
