Barack & Hillary, it's white men you ought to worry about

By REV. FLOYD FLAKE

The deafening din of identity politics has thrown the Democratic presidential nominating process into a tailspin for more than a week. Yes, Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have called a truce for now. But the damage already done, and ongoing sniping by their surrogates, has the potential to cause both candidates to stumble on their long walk to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Why? Because the Democratic Party has developed a race and gender problem in recent decades. It's not just about African-Americans or Latinos on the racial side, or about women on the gender side.

The race and gender problem facing Democrats is largely about white men. White men have drifted from or have been driven from the party in record numbers since the 1960s. Their absence has left the party hobbled in presidential politics, primarily playing for states on the liberal coasts.

Our candidates will never win over those white men unless we can, on the one hand, talk candidly and openly about race - without setting off spasms of theatrical finger-pointing after seemingly innocent comments - and, on the other hand, transcend race, by answering Americans' common concerns, especially on the economy..."

With the Dems, its always about race. In one breath Hillary is dismissing race and gender politics and with the next she's bemoaning it. Victim. Cannot be a democrat and NOT play the victim card as well.

Jimmy Dean sausage factory's couldn't touch the amount of pork LBJ gave away for the votes to pass the Civil Rights act. That, along with the memory of a recently slain President convinced the people, not the politicians mind you but the people, that it'd be a good thing to do. All the politicians wanted were their own versions of bridges to nowhere, and they got 'em and in spades.

When President Bush began appointing blacks to positions of prominence the media turned color blind and instead of praising such actions began digging for dirt. But, let yet another black man run for the highest office...Jesse Jackson was the first...and his liberal female opponent offers that MLK wasn't all that great shakes because it took a President to get the job done.

The message is clear. Blacks are nothing without democrats. The greatest black man that ever lived went nowhere until a going nowhere fast liberal President decided to make a name for himself.

So who does the author of this piece blame for the continuing bigoted democrat struggle for dominance?

White men. Republican white men but of course.

Not Hillary Clinton. She, after all, was merely the one to bring up race to begin with and started the whole fuss.

Why the obfuscation?

Because Hillary has promised HER share of pork should she emerge victorious. To the liberals and those who love them, it is never about right and wrong, and always about what can you DO FOR ME.

Another black man bought and paid for.

My how times have changed.

Forget the half million white men who died in the fight to free the slaves. Forget them, and blame their great grandsons for wanting a candidate with more to offer than pandering and little else.
