Man Shoots Self Using Gun as Backscratcher

FORT WORTH -- A 44-year-old Fort Worth man is recovering from a gunshot wound he received early Sunday morning while trying to scratch his back with a gun.

Jorge Espinal told police he used a .22 revolver to scratch the itch when the gun accidentally fired.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. Sunday in Espinal's southeast side home in the 3500 block of Montague Street.

Espinal told officers he was drinking beer and playing poker with friends when he developed an urge to scratch his back. The gun was the first thing he grabbed.

Espinal's injury is not life-threatening, according to a police report.

A woman who answered the phone at Espinal's home would not comment on the shooting."

Hey listen, it could have been worse...

The itch could have been considerably LOWER, and today Mr. Espinal would have been well on the way to being called MISS Espinal.
