Cellulosic Biomass

President Bush has been touting Cellulosic Biomass as a potential winner in the race to develope alternative fuels that are replenishable, and hopefullly won't scare any caribous.

Bioethanol
"Bioethanol is an alcohol made by fermenting the sugar components of biomass. Today, it is made mostly from sugar and starch crops. With advanced technology being developed by the Biomass Program, cellulosic biomass, like trees and grasses, are also used as feedstocks for ethanol production. Ethanol can be used as a fuel for cars in its pure form, but it is usually used as a gasoline additive to increase octane and improve vehicle emissions. Check out What is Bioethanol? for more information on ethanol."

The hitch is the same one that rears it's ugly head every time something akin to this is researched. To create ethanol, for example, fossil fuels are burned. More fossil fuels are burned, than ethanols created, so we waste more than it's worth. But it DOES keep the big midwest farming co-ops tickled pink. Now, if we'd been allowed to go nuclear way back when, this would be a different story, but the Loons made sure that nuclear power was a no-go as soon as they saw that horrd movie, The China Syndrome.

So we remain stuck on stupid because the liberals were scared by a Michael Douglas/Jane Fonda flick.

Could only happen here.
