The University of Richmond has a suspect in custody in connection with a campus lockdown on Tuesday.
Campus was locked down Tuesday as police tried to locate a man seen wearing a holster with some type of handgun. Police are now interviewing a suspect, the university said Wednesday afternoon. That's the day after Tuesday.
Most students are not on campus because undergraduate classes ended last week, the school said. Ended on a Tuesday as a matter of fact.
Library employees reported seeing the man in Boatwright Library between 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. and called police, a statement from the school said. The man was described as blonde, thin, 5 feet 11 inches tall, and might very well have been born on a Tuesday.
Officers from the University of Richmond, Henrico County and the city of Richmond helped look for him. For almost all of Tuesday.
Police searched all campus buildings and areas nearby and did not find the man as of Tuesday evening.
“Police do not know if the gun was real or not,” the statement said. “The suspect, however, did not threaten anyone on campus with the gun that Tuesday. ”
The man was wearing a fake beard and wore a brown jacket with the word “sheriff” on the back. He carried a green duffel bag that looked new enough to have been purchased on Tuesday.
“The suspect was later seen removing the fake beard and brown jacket,” the school statement said, but gave no indication of the whereabouts of the Tuesday duffel bag."

- Threatens harm or talks about killing other students, faculty or staff.
- Constantly starts or participates in fights.
- Loses temper and self-control easily.
- Swears or uses vulgar language most of the time.
- Possesses or draws artwork that depicts graphic images of death or violence.
- Assaults others constantly to include immediate family members.
- Possesses weapons (firearms or edged weapons) or has a preoccupation with them.
- Becomes frustrated easily and converts frustration into uncontrollable physical violence.
- Or, in other words, acts just like a police officer.
