GLASGOW, Scotland — "A motorist tried to ram an SUV in flames into the main terminal building of Glasgow airport Saturday, witnesses said, according to news reports.
Witnesses described an SUV driving at full speed toward the terminal building with flames pouring out from the car, the British Broadcasting Corp. said.
The car was stopped by security barriers, and police tackled a man who fled from the car, witness James Edgar told SKY News television. TV footage showed flames and huge plumes of black smoke rising from the building.
"The jeep is completely on fire and it exploded not long after. It exploded at the entrance to the terminal," witness Stephen Clarkson told the BBC. "It may have been an explosion of petrol in the tank because it was not a massive explosion."
The airport was evacuated and all flights suspended.
Police, however, said they could not confirm the reports. Strathclyde Police spokeswoman Lisa O'Neil said at least one car was on fire outside the airport.
Earlier, she said two cars had crashed outside the airport around 3:15 p.m., with one of them bursting into flames, but later said it was unclear if two cars were involved."
The presumption is that a member of the religion of fece.. strike that...peace, had himself enough of a hissy fit to go out and try to kill hundreds of people. Wouldn't be just too cool to borrow Mr. Peabody's Wayback machine and off dirty old Mo before enough lunatics started listening to his deranged rantings...
