In Samuel P. Huntington's book "Who Are We? The Challenges to America's National Identity," he asks: "Would America be the America it is today if in the 17th and 18th centuries it had been settled not by British Protestants but by French, Spanish or Portuguese Catholics? The answer is no. It would not be America; it would be Quebec, Mexico or Brazil."
Like Ann, I am unhappy with the prospect of turning America into just another roach motel. There's still plenty of time to preserve our heritage; since the invading hordes of illegals always wind up being democrats they'll soon be killing their babies too, but enough is enough. No amnesty. No open boarder for freeloaders. We've seen what they've done to their own homelands and it isn't pretty. We've a strong national identity thank you very much. Despite the anchor around our collective throats. We can deal with illegal goings on the same way we've always dealt with crime. Rape, murder, robbery, we fight against such acts knowing full well that they'll always be with us, so giving up to the illegals simply because it'd be difficult to fight them off is utter nonsense. You've been raped? Sorry Ma'am. It happens to so many women we'd be nuts trying to capture all the rapists. Can't be done. Your home was burglarized? So? Thousands of homes are burglarized each year and what makes you special. Your husband was killed during a robbery? Please now. You expect us to stop all robberies? Why, sure, there IS a war on drugs but drugs don't vote so they're fair game.
