Don't Be A Victim...

"Thomas Alan Haines, 50, Lisa Ann Haines, 47, and their son were found stabbed to death on May 12 at their house in a leafy neighborhood in Manheim Township. Their college-age daughter ran to get help and survived.

Margaret "Maggie" Haines told police she was awakened by a noise at about 2 a.m. and went into her parents' bedroom, where she said she found her father lying on the bed and her mother sitting nearby. The mother quietly told her to get help.

When police arrived a short time later, they found the parents dead in their bedroom and the son in a hallway."

Three people, stabbed to death in their own home. By a crazed 16 year-old. Not by a team of ninja's, not by the mob, not even by the police. One deranged kid. It isn't paranoia to own a fire extinguisher, or a smoke alarm, or to install secure doors and windows. It is the duty of every family member to protect one another, and of just one of these individuals has access to a suitable weapon this tragedy might not have occurred. One gun on the nightstand. One shotgun in a nearby closet. I'm not saying you have to set up motion detectors throughout the home, but for the love of pete don't be a victim.
