Edges
There are times when a rugged fixed blade knife comes in handy, and I can recommend these. The SOG features a 9.5 inch blade and is just the ticket for camping chores or prying a small gator's snout from your boot. The 11" Scottish Dirk will run you about $80 as opposed to the SOG's $40, and while not as functional when aswamp, is a welcome carry-along when something leaps from the treeline and the aught-six is a step or two away. There are better, and of course far costlier knifes, but either of above will not induce fits of hysterical weeping should they be left afield. Midway and Cabela's is where I do my online shopping, but any decent Wal-Mart Supercenter should have a good selection of rough-use blades.
