Two of the papers I read daily are the Sydney Morning Herald, and The Australian. It became habit when I lived there, and it's fun to keep up with that part of the world, but I long ago stopped believing some of the stories therein because they can be somewhat fast and loose with the facts, but it never seemed to be in devious manner...sort of more along the lines of gossipy stuff.

That is why I didn't post the following when I first saw the story, but it's making it's way 'round the net and Lem is doing his usual bang-up on it, so go take a peek if you haven't done so as yet:

"ISRAEL last night threatened to assassinate Palestinian Prime Minister Ismael Haniyeh if Hamas militants did not release a captured Israeli soldier unharmed."
