Andrew Young: Wal-Mart Kicks Out The Gook & Pop Stores

August 19, 2006 -- "Andrew Young, the former mayor of Atlanta and a one-time aide to Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., was recently hired to head up a public-relations effort for Wal-Mart - Working Families for Wal-Mart.

But the association came to an embarrassing end after he made offensive comments to a Los Angeles newspaper.

Asked to respond to the charge that the huge department store drives out small, independent mom-and-pop stores, Young responded: "Well, I think they should; they ran the mom-and-pop stores out of my neighborhood.

"But you see, those are the people who have been overcharging us, selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. And they sold out and moved to Florida. I think they've ripped off our communities enough.

"First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it's Arabs; very few black people own these stores."

Yes, be thankful for Wal-Mart's everywhere, for they WILL hire the otherwise un-hirable. They need warm bodies. All the time. "Mom & Pop" stores like having humans working for them. Wal-Mart's ARE better for a community because they get people to spend more money than a gaggle of small stores would. They allow the riffraff to wander the aisles 24/7 and even permit shoplifting as long as it's kept to a minimum. They prop up the Chinese economy too, let's not forget that.
