Affirmative Action Watch...ZULIMA ZSTYLE

August 16, 2006 -- "Zulima* Farber finally acknowledged the inevitable and resigned last night as New Jersey's attorney general - much to the relief of Gov. Jon Corzine.

It was only under intense pressure that she apparently decided that "just cause" includes having "knowingly acted to secure a benefit for [her boyfriend] that was violative of the motor vehicle laws and obviously [was] not available to the general public," as Williams' investigation concluded.

Farber had shown up at the scene - in a state vehicle with an on-duty state-police driver - after cops ticketed her boyfriend, whose car was unregistered and whose license had been suspended.

Within minutes, a scheduled tow of the car was canceled, the cops tried to void the tickets and the boyfriend's license was mysteriously restored.

Farber, for her part, insisted her role at the scene was as a "private citizen."

Yeah, right.

Corzine deserves credit for holding to his zero-tolerance pledge and trying to cut Farber loose, even if only to prevent further political embarrassment.

But then, he should have seen this coming.

The red flags were all over this appointment from the get-go: Farber, after all, had been forced to drop her nomination to the state Supreme Court in 2003 after it was learned she'd gotten 13 speeding tickets and had two bench warrants issued for her arrest after she failed to show up for court hearings."

*No, I did not make THIS one up, either.
