Seems They Arrested Everyone But The Real Killer

"Hours after Karl Thornhill's girlfriend became the first woman to die in the Virginia Tech massacre, cops kicked in the grieving boyfriend's door and held him in handcuffs while they tried to pin her murder on him.

"They busted in the door and said, 'Search warrant! Search warrant! Get down!' " neighbor Ben Zachary told the Daily News yesterday. "I've never been so scared in my life."

It was the second time police had grabbed Thornhill, who owns guns and had dropped girlfriend Emily Hilscher at her dorm just before she was killed Monday morning.

While they were questioning him the first time, real killer Cho Seung-Hui was launching his final rampage in a campus hall..."

Until something of actual interest comes along, this will be my last post concerning the Korean madman and the cops and teachers who conspired together in order to make dozens of people victims. This school, like most others, offered the little lunatic a weapon-free kill zone. Why else do you think that's where the murderers go. Same reason that's where the drug dealers go. And rapists. Making campuses a virtual villains thieves and scoundrels paradise. No security to speak of, and enough unarmed souls to feel the truly big man on campus. I travel the University of Florida perhaps 2 or 3 times a week, every week. Lisa attends a knitting class there. Everyone knows where all of the police are at any given time of the day because one of the truly enormous money-makers the campus has is the radar gun. Like any good sniper would, law enforcement hides behind curves, on the other side of heavily forested sections of the road, hey, spot a blind spot and place your bet on a motorcycle carrying someone to fine you for going 24 in a 20.

The sad ending to this is the fact that the cops and teachers still don't get it. Today and tomorrow and for the foreseeable future live and death and crime will go on. But a glimmer of hope comes from the many, many responses from polls, and comments to one weepy liberal essay or another. The vast majority of respondents seem to understand that you don't punish the innocent for the actions of the guilty. And wonder of wonders, conservative talk show hosts and mega-bloggers have been forced to stand up and be counted.

Just like while the real bad guy was doing his dirty work the cops were anywhere but where the bullets were flying, our respectable brethren in arms were skirting the important issues in favor of no-gun-zones. It took so heinous a criminal act to bestir them, and maybe this time they'll keep their eyes open for a while. We've been warning them all about the consequences of permitting the bad guy to be the only one capable of defending himself, and we'll continue to do so after they've gone back to playing it safe.
