McCain's Fall From Grace: As Seen By Robert Novak

"In December, I wrote prematurely that McCain was starting to look like the anointed nominee the Republican Party always prefers. The signal was a Dec. 8 reception for McCain attended by corporate representatives and other lobbyists and hosted by Senate Republican Whip Trent Lott, who takes pride in picking his party's successful nominee a year in advance. McCain was the front-runner, leading even in the key early state of Iowa. The decline was precipitous, typified by McCain's No. 5 finish in the Pennsylvania GOP state committee's June 30 straw poll. Inside the political community, the blame was consigned to tactical error."

Sure. Novak jumped on the bandwagon back when McCain was raising lots of dough. Then the country got to see him in bed with Teddy the K and the party ended. Why is this so difficult to understand, Bob. Flash in the pan John ALWAYS self-destructs, Bob. As astute observers such as Lemuel Calhoon were saying...long ago, I might add...the Jurassic Press was fawning over the Manchurian Candidate because he was dissing Conservative Republicans, but as soon as push came to shove and Johnny began raising some serious moolah, they threw him off the gravy train. Pictures of McCain cuddling with Mary Jo's killer enraged the sleepy head fence sitters, even, and that, as they say, was that. John had served his purpose and it was time to portray the man as he truly is.

Some of us knew THAT a long time ago, Bob. Sorry you didn't get to become the all-knowing seer of Washington. To try and make it up to you, I won't laugh quite as hard when reading your Jurassic Drivel.
