PMSNBC Drops Imus

"MSNBC today announced it is dropping Don Imus's morning program after a parade of advertisers suspended sponsorship of his cable TV show and outrage over his racially and sexually insensitive remarks continued to build."

The very first day of PMSNBC's telecast of the Imus in the Morning show was a disaster. He and the crew schlepped around the studio covering the monitors they didn't think were set up in the proper manner. The first 15 minutes of the "show" saw Imus walking with pieces of paper in hand, solemn look upon his face, and asking McCord for more tape. He hated it.

Imus was the first shock jock. The day Howard Stern arrived in NY was the beginning of the Imus downfall, a downfall that has lasted over 20 years. He married a women 30 years his junior, an incredible piece of ass if I may be so bold, who then proceeded to turn him into a sissified vegan who could no longer say shit even with a mouthful (and bade him lose and keep off any semblance of weight...hence his awful appearance). This was why a sidekick or 2 or 3 was necessary to do the dirty work. Don Imus ceded the top of the pyramid to the ones that followed, and went from being featured in over 600 radio stations to something under 200. He was no longer cutting edge on anything worth cutting or edging, and turned to politics in order to grasp once again for the brass ring of fame. This made him the Larry King of radio, powderpuff questions jokingly asked of brain-dead politicos who remembered him as being Mr. Top of the Heap instead of the Bargain Basement Stern that he had in reality become.

I'm not particularly enamored of the manner in which he at long last reached bottom then started digging, but he SHOULD have known that the days of being outrageous were long gone. One may be outrageous if one is black or hispanic, or white and content with existing at the fringes of celebrity, but certainly not a 67 year-old has-been desperately seeking nobility.
