Compounding A Tragedy

Insult to injury I believe it's called...

No indictment in fatal shooting of teen suspect in PlayStations robbery

WILMINGTON, North Carolina (AP) - "A grand jury Wednesday declined to indict a former sheriff's deputy in the shooting death of a teenager accused of stealing video game consoles.
State prosecutors unsuccessfully sought an indictment against Christopher Long on a charge of voluntary manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Peyton Strickland. Grand jurors deliberated for more than an hour.

During a raid of Strickland's home in December, Long thought he heard gunfire when a battering ram hit the home's door and opened fire through the door. Strickland was struck in the head and near his right shoulder, according to an autopsy.

«The failure of the grand jury to indict Long on any charge compounds our family's tragedy,» Strickland's family said in a statement.

«Our unarmed 18-year-old son, Peyton, was killed when Chris Long, a deputy sheriff, fired three bullets from a submachine gun through the front door of Peyton's house while he was answering the unlocked door,» the statement said.

Yep. The deputy shoots through an unlocked door, kills a young man, and is let off scott-free. Was the kid dirty and needed to be arrested? Probably. Did he deserve the death penalty? Apparently so.

Someone tell me though, how a cop can hear gunfire when no guns were fired? And let me say this in all earnestness; son of a bitch kills MY kid and he's a dead man. All I'd need do is go to his house and fire through the door because I thought I heard shots. Right?

Thanks to The War on Guns.
