"After the police shot him on a busy Crown Heights street, the man, Victor Gordon, 23, got up and resumed shooting before officers fired a final barrage. He was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital, the police said, and as night fell, they counted at least 122 shell casings strewn along Park Place near Albany Avenue, where the shootout took place."
Any wonder the cost of loaded ammunition has risen? Yesterday, the NYPD chased a car-jacker through Brooklyn and no one will ever truly know how many rounds were fired. Part of the problem is the anemic 9 mm service pistol and it's ability (or lack thereof) to cease and desist hostilities in a timely fashion. Speer has been trying to get them to switch to +p+ if they insist on staying with Glock 19's and 17's, but the Mayor's office goes berserk every time they get wind of the cops wanting a more powerful round. The upside is the fact that all of the major manufacturer's are feverishly working on better manstoppers for departments that are forced to use mouseguns.
