Cue Twilight Zone Music...

"Assemblyman Lloyd Levine, D-Van Nuys, said the Lost and Stolen Firearm Notification Act is aimed at providing law enforcement agencies with better information about the ownership of weapons in order to prevent gun trafficking in California.

"Requiring notification of lost and stolen firearms is the single most effective way to prevent those who are not legally allowed to own a gun from obtaining one," Levine said."

Begging your pardon, assemblyman, but how in the sam hill is reporting a stolen gun going to keep guns out of the hands of those who've already stolen a gun?

The gun is STOLEN. The criminal ALREADY HAS it. The single purpose of your ludicrous Notification Act is to place more of a paperwork burden upon the law abiding citizen.

Check out what David Codrea has to say on the matter over at War On Guns, and try really really hard not to laugh and cry all at the same time.
