Ex-NFL Player Gets 2-15 Years For Fondling 14 year-old

A former Detroit Lions wide receiver who pleaded guilty to a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge on accusations involving a then-14-year-old girl has been sentenced to spend two to 15 years in prison.

Tommie Boyd appeared Thursday in Macomb County Circuit Judge Diane Druzinski's courtroom. The 39-year-old from Shelby Township entered his plea in January in exchange for authorities dropping several other charges.
Police say he grabbed the girl's buttocks with both hands.

Boyd also has to register as a sex offender and be fitted with a tether for the rest of his life, when released.

I'm the sort of fella who likes justice to be swift and meaningful. A severe beating along with the cross-yer-heart promise of losing his cajons should something like this ever happen again, probably would have been enough for me as far as sentencing goes. Free room and board even for two years is two years too long for him to be on the dole and that isn't taking into consideration what "tethering" for life is going to cost.

Since we'll never know what the "other charges" were that they dropped for his plea, difficult to make heads nor tails of how severe or lenient the sentence is but either he's fit to return to society in a relatively short period of time, or not.
